Mayhew homers in Post 124 win

WESTFIELD – The Westfield Post 124 American Legion Baseball team is in a groove.
Post 124 won their contest against Springfield 9-3 last night to improve to 13-6.
Adam Mayhew belted a three-run homer in the fourth, Danny Jacques and Billy Smith each had two hits and an RBI, and Evan Moorhouse went 2-for-3 with three runs scored for Westfield, who play their final regular season game tonight at Longmeadow at 5:45 p.m.
On Tuesday, Mayhew (2-for-3, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Jacques (2-3, double, 2 runs), Kyle Murphy (hit, 2 runs), Jeremy Tanguay (double, RBI, 2 runs), and Rob Sullivan (3 walks), who hit a bases-clearing double to highlight a 5-run first-inning, provided the offense in a 10-7 win over Palmer.
Mayhew scattered eight hits and struck out six batters in five innings on the mound for Westfield, before giving way to reliever Noah Park, who gave up three runs on three hits in the final two.
