WESTFIELD – Westfield State University senior Andrew Medeiros (Acushnet, Mass./New Bedford High School) was selected to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) 2013 New England Division III All-Star baseball first team.
Medeiros was an ECAC first team selection as a utility player. He was a New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) 2013 Division III All-New England third team selection as an outfielder.
In the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), Medeiros was selected the first team utility player, as he was the Owls’ starting catcher the final 17 games this season. This season he played his first 19 games in the outfield, where he was an MASCAC second-team selection as a sophomore.
Medeiros, who finished the 2013 season with a 17-game hitting streak, led the Owls with a .389 batting average, 49 hits, and 18 stolen bases in 19 attempts. He slugged eight doubles, three triples, three home runs and had 28 RBI.
Medeiros finished with a fine .360 career batting average and ranks fourth on the Owls’ all-time charts with 154 hits. His other career totals include 19 doubles, 9 triples, 9 home runs, 92 RBI, and 34 stolen bases.
