Melbourne R. MacDonald

WESTFIELD – Melbourne Robert (Mal) MacDonald, 80, better known as Mal died suddenly at home, Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Born on November 7, 1931 to the late Frederick Melbourne and Thelma (Groome) MacDonald.
He was a life long resident of Westfield. He worked at H. B. Smith Company in Westfield and later at the Strathmore Paper Company in Woronoco until he retired. Mal was a hard worker and in his free time liked to follow Polish music bands including Ray Henery. He enjoyed his three Basset Hounds, Major, Minday and Mandy as well as his pal Dudley-Atlas and his current dog Sophia. Mal took great interest in his wood stove which he loved to use in the winter months.
Mal is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gloria (Drumm) MacDonald and their son, Fred Robert; a brother, Gary MacDonald and three sisters; Consuelle (Connie), Carol and Linda. Besides his parents, Mal was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Gordon in 2009. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.
Funeral services for Mal will be private and at the convenience of the family. The Robert E. Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main Street, Westfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
