SOUTHWICK: Michael R. Laiho, 41, (1980-2022) passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. He was born in Holyoke to Patricia J. (Meunier) Laiho and the late Robert “Randy” Laiho. He was a graduate of Southwick Tolland-Regional High School in 1999. He was a varsity soccer player, and his skills lead him to Belgium to showcase his talents in international competition. After high school Mikey served a 5-year apprenticeship with the Local #669 Sprinkler Fitters Union and worked for them for the last 20 years. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed playing golf, riding snowmobiles, floor and ice hockey. Mikey’s true passion was motocross #323. Michael’s fondest moments were spent with his children. Mike enjoyed participating at various motocross tracks around New England in JDAY and NESC races. Whether it was brrraapping or spectating, he absolutely loved doing this with his son, Conner. He also loved to snowboard with his daughter, Jada and his brother, Dan.
Mikey is survived by his loving mother Patricia Laiho and her partner Cary Guth of Edgewater, Florida, his devoted brother Dan J. Laiho of Southwick, his adored children Jada A. Laiho and Conner R. Laiho and their mother Craigen Laiho, of Westfield, and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike also leaves a special friend Stacy Iglesias and her family of Southwick. Mikey has so many great friends and is loved by all!
