Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012
8:43 a.m.: larceny, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a student came to the station to complain that his cell phone was stolen at the school, the responding officer reports the victim said that his smart phone was stolen from the school’s locker room while he was at athletic practice;
9:42 a.m.: breaking and entering, Southampton Road, a caller reports a camper he stores at a Southampton Road business has been broken into, the responding officer reports the caller said that forcible entry was made into the camper and boxes stored inside were disturbed but he cannot immediately know if anything was stolen;
9:42 a.m.: breaking and entering, Southampton Road, an officer investigating a break-in to a camper reports that he was advised of a possibly related crime, the officer reports that two windows at the business in question were found to have been tampered with and entry to the office was gained, the office safe was entered and more than $1,000 in cash was stolen, in addition more than $100 was stolen from a vending machine;
12:56 p.m.: larceny, Westfield Vocational-Technical High School, 33 Smith Ave., a school resource officer reports a student advised him that $20 had been stolen from her purse during class;
2:09 p.m.: accident, Paper Mill Road, a patrol officer reports he found that a car rolled over on Paper Mill Road, the officer reports that the car had been operating up the hill when it struck a curb and rolled over, all the occupants were restrained and suffered only minor injuries;
4:07 p.m.: breaking and entering Mechanic Street, a landlord called to report that someone apparently broke into one of his rental units and is still there, the responding officer reports the suspect was asked to leave the apartment and the landlord secured the apartment;
6:09 p.m.: larceny, Springfield Road, an employee of a Springfield Road department store reports six youths were caught attempting to steal merchandise, the responding officer reports the youths were identified and the management chooses to seek their own criminal complaints;
7:06 p.m.: larceny, Bartlett Street at Mechanic Street, a caller reps his BMX bike was stolen, the responding officer reports the victim said that he was inside a barber shop when he saw somebody get on his bike and ride away, the officer reports the caller and the barber gave chase but lost the suspect on Meadow Street, the barber said that he knows the suspect by sight but not by name;
7:36 p.m.: fireworks, Yale Street, a caller reports fireworks are coming from Bush Street, the responding officer reports he encountered a male party igniting a Roman candle who said that he was “getting rid of” his remaining fireworks, the officer reports he ascertained that the man had no more fireworks and advised him of the possible consequences of his actions;
11:21 p.m.: officer wanted, Crescent Ridge Road, a caller reports receiving threatening phone messages, the responding officer reports the caller said that he is receiving threatening messages from a former tenant in Connecticut who lost possessions when the property he was occupying burned, the officer reports he was unable to immediately contact the suspect;

12:06 a.m.: larceny, Sackett Road, a resident came to the station to report a larceny from his home, the responding officer reports that the caller said that between 10 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday his home was entered and a collection of knives and his medications were stolen, there were no signs of forcible entry;
7:22 a.m.: found property, East Silver Street, a caller reports a young girl’s purple bike had been left in bushes on South Broad Street for two days, the responding officer reports the bike was transported to the station for safe keeping;
9:27 a.m.: breaking and entering, Old Stage Road, a caller reports his mother’s basement door was found open and money was found to be missing from her purse, the responding officer reports the victim said she went to bed about 10:30 p.m. and in the morning found that her basement door was open, her purses had been moved and about $30 was missing, the officer reports there were no signs of forcible entry;
10:19 a.m.: animal complaint, Westfield State University, 577 Western Ave., the animal control officer reports he responded to assist campus authorities with a fox, the ACO reports the animal had to be dispatched and he disposed of the carcass;
1:10 p.m.: fraud, East Main Street, a detective reports that he is investigating an incidence of fraud;
4:15 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Meadow Street, a traffic enforcement officer reports a traffic stop, the operator’s license was found to have been revoked, Norman R. Gray Jr., 51, of 72 Pequot Point Road, Southampton, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked as an habitual traffic offender;
4:57 p.m.: fire, Stephanie Lane, a caller reports seeing high flames in the neighborhood, the responding officer reports a homeowner with a small campfire in his backyard was advised to extinguish it;
5:45 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Washington Street, a traffic bureau officer reports a traffic stop, the officer reports he immediately detected an odor of burnt marijuana, the operator said that he did not have his license with him and identified himself verbally but the officer found that the photo of the person the man claimed to be did not match his features, when confronted the man provided his real name and said that he was the subject of an outstanding warrant, the officer noted that there was no inspection sticker on the windshield and found that he operator’s license had been revoked as an habitual traffic offender, Jacob A. Lishness, 29, of 16 Shagg Bark Drive, Southwick, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked as an habitual traffic offender, being a motor vehicle operator who refuses to identify himself, for operating a motor vehicle without an inspection sticker, for a motor vehicle lights violation, for an adult seat belt violation and on the warrant, during the booking process the man was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a city ordinance violation citation was filed;
6:25 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a traffic enforcement officer reports he stopped a vehicle seen operating on Southampton Road and the operator pulled into his apartment complex, the officer reports the operator’s license was found to be suspended and the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, Justin M. Black, 24, of 50 Southampton Road, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with suspended license, the vehicle was surrendered to the owner in the parking lot;
7:31 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Main Street at Lindbergh Boulevard, a traffic enforcement officer reports a routine check revealed that the owner of a vehicle seen operating on Main Street had a suspended license, the officer reports the operator’s features appeared to match a RMV photo of the owner, the vehicle was stopped and the operator was found to be the owner, John M. Mullaney, 39, of 31 Sutton Place, Agawam, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a subsequent offense;
7:47 p.m.: incapacitated person, Grandmothers Garden, a person walking a dog called police to report finding a female party sleeping under bushes who hugged him and said she had to go to hospital before walking away, the responding officer reports a search of the area did not reveal the woman but when he went to the emergency room he found her there, the woman was obviously highly intoxicated and began to create a verbal disturbance when treatment was complete, the woman was placed in protective custody;
9:30 p.m.: disturbance, Mechanic Street, a caller reports he was punched during an argument, the responding officer reports when he arrived at the address he encountered a male party outside who said that he came to the address to take custody of a key to a company vehicle from a recently discharged employee and an argument developed, the man said that he had cuffed he victim with an open hand, the officer reports the victim agreed with the other man’s account, the caller was advised that he could seek a complaint at Westfield District Court if he chose to;
