Sunday,Nov. 24, 2013
1:20 a.m.: assist other police department, Westfield State University, 577 Western Ave., WSU police request the use of a cell for Myles Candelet, 18, of 48 Loumar Drive, Pittsfield, who was arrested for disturbing the peace, a cell monitor was provided;
3:16 a.m.: abandoned 911 call, an officer responding to an abandoned 911 call found no response at he door at the source of the call and requests firefighters to respond to effect entry, a supervisory officer subsequently asked that the responding firefighters to be re-routed to the intersection of Elm and Franklin where the caller was found, the officer reports the caller said that he needs to go to hospital but wanted to walk to the store to buy cigarettes first;
10:04 a.m.: vandalism, School Street, a caller reports a window at a School Street pizzeria has been broken, the responding officer reports the business owner was notified;
3:42 p.m.: found property, North Elm Street, a resident came to the station to surrender a Vera Bradley wallet she reported finding outside a North Elm Street bar, the responding officer reports the owner of the wallet was not immediately located and the wallet was stored for safe keeping;
4:37 p.m.: larceny, Lincoln Street, a caller reports his laptop computer is missing, the responding officer reports the caller said that he realized that he has not seen his computer for three days and none of his roommates profess to know anything about it;
5:07 p.m.: breaking and entering, East Bartlett Street, a caller reports he entered his mother’s residence to find an intruder who assaulted him, the responding officer reports the K-9 team was unable to establish a track of the suspect on the path he is reported to have taken when he fled;
8:42 p.m.: larceny, Franklin Street, a caller from a Franklin Street store reports an employee observed a male party in the parking lot who removed a pair of socks which had been concealed in his clothing, the employee believes the socks were stolen, a search for the suspect did not immediately yield results;

10:54 a.m.: found property, Stanley Park, 400 Western Avenue, a resident came to the station to surrender a wallet she reported finding at Stanley Park, the responding officer reports he left a telephone message for the owner who could not be immediately contacted, the wallet was stored for safekeeping;
10:57 a.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a caller from an Elm Street gas station reports a larceny, the responding officer reports the manager of the gas station reports an employee reported the cash on hand was less than the receipts registered and a review of the security video showed that the employee on duty for the previous shift has spent the time scratching lottery tickets, the officer spoke with the suspect who immediately admitted stealing from his employer, the manager reports that the employee was discharged and he made a reimbursement agreement with him;
11:42 a.m.: fraud, East Main Street, a person came to the station to follow up an online incident report, the man said that his wallet was stolen on the previous Friday and a credit card which was in the wallet has been thrice used locally;
12:04 p.m.: animal complaint, Old Quarry Road, two callers separately report that two loose dogs are aggressive to persons in the neighborhood, the director of animal control operations reports he found that the door was open at the dogs’ residence but no person responded, the director reports the dogs were placed back inside the residence and the door was secured;
12:59 assist citizen, East Main Street, an ambulance was dispatched to an East Main Street parking lot to assist a person whose keys are locked inside the vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was made;
2:26 p.m.: assist citizen, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., the evidence officer reports he accepted firearms surrendered by a resident who was notified that the chief had revoked his license to carry a firearm;
6:19 p.m.: counterfeiting, Elm Street, a staffer from an Elm Street bar reports a customer asked her to call police because he has discovered what appears to be a counterfeit $20 bill, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he asked the bartender to check the bill which he received in change elsewhere because it is smaller than it should be and lacks security features, the officer reports the bill was found to be bogus;
10:15 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, West Silver Street, a patrol officer reports a routine check of a vehicle seen operating revealed its registration was expired, the officer stopped the car on West Silver Street and the operator said that his license and registration were expired, the officer reports the operator’s license was found to be suspended, Matthew T. McSweeney, 27, of 342 Southwick Road, was arrested for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
