WESTFIELD – Westfield State University senior attacker Stephanie Lenhardt (Duxbury HS/Duxbury, Mass.) dished out eight assists to key the Owls offense, as Westfield defeated MCLA by an 18-2 score in a MASCAC women’s lacrosse game at Alumni Field on Saturday.
Lenhardt’s eight assists were two shy of her own school record for assists in a game, set in 2014.
The win extends the Owls school-record winning streak to 10 games, and improves the team record to 10-4 overall and 5-0 in the MASCAC.
Westfield rushed out to a 5-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the game and led 14-2 at the half.
Lenhardt finished with a pair of goals for 10 total points on the afternoon. Roni Orcutt (Westfield/Granville, Mass.) , Ashley Orris (Doherty/Worcester, Mass.) and Stephanie Godek (W. Springfield/W. Springfield, Mass.) each tallied three goals for the Owls.
Rebecca Pike (Shaler/Troy, N.Y.) and Natalie Caney (Belchertown/Benchertown, Mass.) were the goal scorers for MCLA. Alexandra David made 10 saves for the Trailblazers, who fall to 3-7, and 0-5 in the MASCAC.
Westfield held big advantages in nearly every statistical category, outshooting the Blazers 36-5, and holding a 15-7 advantage in draw controls.
Westfield State will be back in action on Wednesday night, hosting Salem State in the Owls final regular season home game at 7:00 p.m.
