WESTFIELD – Senior Jon Principato scored the game-winning goal in the 51st minute to lead Westfield State University to a 1-0 MASCAC men’s soccer victory over Bridgewater State on Saturday, Oct. 27.
It was the regular season finale for Westfield, which placed third in the MASCAC with a 5-2 record; the Owls are 7-9-1 overall heading into next week’s conference postseason tournament. Bridgewater is 3-3-1 and 8-8-1.
Principato scored off a rebound following senior Jared Spicer’s free kick that deflected off the goalie.
For the game, both teams totaled 10 shots while Westfield led in corner kicks, 5-2.
Bridgewater goalie Mat Bagley recorded six saves and Westfield keeper Kris Carrington had four saves.
