Paul William Nimchick, Jr.

WESTFIELD: Paul William Nimchick, Jr. passed away on December 31, 2021, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at home.

He was born on May 15, 1944, in Holyoke, Massachusetts to the late Paul W. Nimchick, Sr. and Alice L. (Germain) (Nimchick) Riley. He attended Holyoke Public Schools.

Paul joined the Army and served in Vietnam; after the army he drove 34 years for Warehouse Transport driving trucks for A&P and Stop & Shop.

Paul is predeceased by his parents, his sisters Edna Nimchick, Esther Robillard, and his beloved wife Judith who he is now reunited with. He leaves behind his beloved children, Paul W. Nimchick lll, Stephanie Nimchick, Patrick Nimchick, and Matthew Nimchick. He was also the beloved Pepe to Virginia-Alice, Rylie, Tyler, Mars, and Paisley-James. He also leaves his only nephew Daniel Robillard of Cape Cod, as well as his cousin Lorraine Thompson of Springfield.

He was a member of the Westfield Sportsman Club and a life member of the American Legion Post 124. He loved spending time with his legion family; he was the chaplain of the American Legion Post 124 until 2019 and was affectionately known as ‘Padre’. He was a fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox and loved attending games at Fenway Park with his children.

The family would like to thank his caretaker Valerie LaPlante and Baystate Hospice for helping the family care for him.

Family and friends will gather for the visitation on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Westfield Funeral Home and Cremation, 4 Princeton St., Westfield, MA 01085. The funeral begins from Westfield Funeral Home on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 9:00 AM proceeding to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA for an 11:00 AM committal service with full military honors. A memorial luncheon will be held immediately following the burial at American Legion Post 124, 38 Broad St., Westfield, MA 01085.
