WESTFIELD – Westfield State University’s Ian Perrier (Whitehorse, Yukon Territory) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men’s ice hockey goalie of the week.
The sophomore transfer from Northland College in Wisconsin racked up 119 saves in posting a 1.33 goals against average and .967 saves percentage in Westfield’s 3-0 week, incuding 47 stops in a 3-2 overtime victory over defending MASCAC champion Plymouth State.
Perrier stopped 39 shots in a 5-1 win over Worcester State and added 33 saves in a 7-1 rout of Framingham State.
TJ Powers, another sophomore tranfer for the Owls, was named to the MASCAC weekly honor roll. Powers totaled two assists and three assists in the two games he played in last week.
The undefeated Owls (6-0) return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 20, when they play a big non-conference game at Amherst College, the alma mater of Westfield head coach Bob Miele.
Amherst is 2-0 this season with identical 1-0 victories over Hamilton College. The Lord Jeffs advanced to the NCAA Divison III Final Four last season.
