Philip D. Burland

WESTFIELD – Philip (Phil) Burland (1935-2020) of Westfield, son of the late Mildred and Ralph Burland, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2020. Phil was born February 11, 1935 and shared that same birthday with his youngest son Don for 52 years. Phil grew up in Springfield and graduated Commerce High School in 1952. During the 1950’s Phil loved driving his 1927 Buick and he participated in a Glidden Tour and was a member of the Veteran Motor Car Club of America (VMCCA) and the CT Valley Region (CVR) car club. Phil served for 33 years as a member of the 104th Fighter Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard in Westfield. He was sworn in on his 18th birthday. Later in life Phil enjoyed tag sale-ing, buying and selling antiques at flea markets, and going to auctions with his wife Beverly. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Beverly (Filley) in 2010. He leaves his sons David and his wife Jessi of Canandaigua, NY and Donald and his wife Wendy of Feeding Hills, MA.

The Burland family would like to thank the staff members of Governor’s Center in Westfield and Hospice of Western and Central MA in Feeding Hills for their care and compassion. There will be no calling hours and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
