3:02 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Loomis Street at Granville Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating at a high rate of speed and used radar to determine it was traveling at 68 mph, the officer reports that he reversed direction to give pursuit but the vehicle was already distant, a supervisory officer ordered the officer to break off pursuit in the interest of safety;
9:03 a.m.: identity fraud, Jeanne Marie Drive, a resident reports via the online reporting option that she attempted to file a tax return and found that a fraudulent return had already been filed with her information;
9:06 a.m.: animal complaint, Janis Road, an animal control officer reports an injured rabbit was dispatched and the carcass was transported to the Twiss Street landfill;
10:01 a.m.: fraud, Coolidge Ave, a resident came to the station to report he was scammed, the responding officer reports that the complainant said that he had answered an online advertisement placed by a Nevada photo studio seeking models for a photo shoot for a clothing line in the area, the man said that he was sent a check for $1,122 and promised an additional $1,725 payment at the conclusion of the job, the man said that he was asked to send the clothing designer a $2,850 payment for the clothing to be modeled and he waited for the check he received to clear before he complied, the man said that when the studio asked him to send an additional $400 to the designer he became suspicious and did not send additional money, the man said that he has been unable to maintain online contact with the studio and believes that his bank may have been premature when reporting that the check he was sent had cleared;
10:57 a.m.: identity fraud, South Maple Street, a resident reports that she attempted to file a tax return and found that a fraudulent return had already been filed with her information;
12:02 p.m.: fire, Southampton Road, a caller reports that a tractor-trailer unit which had burned the day before has rekindled, the responding firefighters report a smoldering tire was again extinguished;
1:40 p.m.: vandalism, Heritage Park, 868 Southampton Road, a caller reports vandalism to the vacant restaurant in front of the trailer park, the responding officer reports he caller showed him damaged fencing adjacent to the restaurant building, the caller said that she believes children who wait for the school bus in the area are responsible for the damage;
1:43 p.m.: animal complaint, Pineridge Drive, a caller reports a large bear has been traveling in the area since early in the morning, the responding animal control officer reports she monitored the bear which was, for the most part, not near any persons;
2:12 p.m.: officer wanted, Main Street, a caller from a Main Street supermarket requests an officer to serve a ‘No trespassing’ order to a person in the store, the responding office reports the known suspect had left the store prior to his arrival and he found the man at his home but he refused to answer the door;
2:38 p.m.: found property, Noble Hospital, West Silver Street, a security employee at the hospital reports finding a bag of marijuana on the grounds, the responding officer reports the contraband was properly disposed of;
3:56 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Little River Road, a traffic enforcement officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and it was towed to the police impound yard;
4:58 p.m.: animal complaint, Stanley Park, a caller reports a dog bit a child’s face, the responding animal control officer reports that a five-year-old girl attempted to hug a relative’s pit bull terrier mix dog and was bitten, the child was transported to Noble Hospital for treatment, transferred to Baystate Medical Center and ultimately transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital where she was reported to be in critical condition, the dog was found to be up-to-date with required vaccinations and was placed in quarantine, the ACO reports that the dog’s owners stated that they will comply with the wishes of the girl’s family in regard to the disposition of the dog;
5:09 p.m.: officer wanted, Franklin Street, a caller from a retail store reports a customer made threats toward her, the responding officer reports the store manager said that a man had been upset by the line at the cash register and an argument developed which culminated in threats by the customer, the manager asked that the man be served with a ‘No trespassing’ order, the officer reports he was able to identify the man who admitted to an altercation, the order was served;
6:15 p.m.: harassment, Russell Road, residents came to the station to complain of harassment by a former friend, the responding officer reports the complainants reported they have been subjected to unwanted contacts by phone and other methods, the officer reports he spoke with the suspect and advised him to stop attempting to contact the complainants;
8:30 p.m.: disturbance, Elm Street, a caller from an Elm Street bar reports one patron punched another, the responding officer reports he spoke with both parties in the dispute and neither wished to pursue the matter.
