Emergency response and crime report

8:23 a.m.: animal complaint, West Silver Street, the manager of animal control operations reports she took custody of a stray dog and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
9:30 a.m.: larceny, Hawks Circle, a caller reports his wedding ring was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that his platinum wedding ring is missing and he does not know how he lost it;
10:56 a.m.: found property, Franklin Street, a caller reports her husband found a suitcase in their driveway, the responding officer reports he was able to identify the owner of the suitcase and it was returned to him;
1:42 p.m.: found property, Neck Road, a resident came to the station to surrender a programmable scanner found near the railroad tracks at Neck Road, the responding office reports the owner was not identified and the scanner was stored for safe keeping;
2:18 p.m.: larceny, North Elm Street, a caller from a North Elm used car dealer reports a person who took a car out for a test drive has not returned and he has noticed suspicious characteristics of the vehicle the customer arrived in, the responding officer reports that the vehicle left behind was reported to have been stolen in East Windsor, Connecticut, and the attached registration plate was reported to have been stolen in Enfield, Connecticut, the customer had left his driver’s license with the dealer and the Chicopee police report the man is well known to them but was not found at his address, the stolen car was towed to the police impound yard;
3:19 p.m.: fire, Van Dussen Apartments, 32 Arnold St., a caller reports shrubbery is on fire, dual response dispatched, the responding fire captain reports s small fire caused by smoking materials which were improperly disposed of was extinguished;
6:32 p.m.: suspicious activity, Danek Drive, a caller reports he checked his mother’s residence and found it had been entered, the responding officer reports the caller said that his mother is away and when he checked her home he found that her purse and medications had been disturbed, the officer reports there were no signs of forcible entry;
8:55 p.m.: larceny, Root Road, a caller reports a larceny from a dance studio via the online reporting option, the complainant reported that she left her cellphone in her dance bag while she was dancing and returned to find it gone;
9:56 p.m.: city ordinance violation, Whitney Playground, Shepard Street, a patrol officer reports that while he was checking the playground a vehicle entered and the operator attempted to leave via the one-way entrance apparently after seeing the cruiser, the operator was advised of the proper traffic pattern and that persons in the playground after it closes at dusk are subject to arrest for trespass.
