12:01 a.m.: disturbance, Fowler Avenue, a caller reports she learned of a party where 50 underage youths were drinking alcohol and one person is reported to be bringing a firearm to show off , the responding officer reports no firearm was found, the parents of the participants were notified and the party was dispersed, one person younger than the legal drinking age was found to be in possession of alcohol and a criminal complaint was filed, the youth hosting the party in his parents’ absence was served with a city ordinance violation citation;
8:19 a.m.: arrest, Tannery Road, an officer reports he became aware of a person who was the subject of an outstanding warrant and sought her at her last known address, Kate Mary Alevras, 26, of 200 Tannery Road, was arrested on the 2012 warrant issued by the Springfield court;
8:47 a.m.: assault, Campanelli Drive, a detective reports she was advised of a workplace assault which had not been reported, the detective reports that she found that one person had reported to a supervisor that a co-worker had struck his back with bolt cutters during an altercation, the detective reports that the victim transported himself to hospital where he was found to have three broken ribs and a collapsed lung, the detective reports the victim has been released from hospital but her investigation is incomplete;
10:24 a.m.: a patrol officer reports he was flagged down by resident who said that a neighbor’s two dogs which are usually tied up without water are loose, the officer reports he was able to secure the dogs and the animal control officer was notified, the responding animal control officer reports she took custody of the dogs and transported them to the municipal animal shelter;
10:55 p.m.: fire, Cabot Road, a caller reports a pile of wood chips is burning, the responding fire captain reports the fire was knocked down promptly and firefighter stay at the scene while payloaders were used to spread out the pile to check for hot spots;
11:33 a.m.: breaking and entering, Kellogg Street, a resident came to the station to report that her home was entered and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the victim said that she noticed that items had been moved in her bedroom and investigated to find that jewelry valued at about $2,000 was missing as well as an iPad and a camera, the woman said that she found her cellar door was ajar, the victim said that she got a call from her son’s girlfriend’s mother who said that her son was in possession of a camera believed to belong to the victim, the investigating detective reports the suspect was interviewed and said that he and the victim’s son had stolen the property, a criminal complaint was filed;
11:50 a.m.: alarm, Washington House, 16 Washington St., an alarm company reports a fire alarm, the responding deputy fire chief reports a stove fire created smoke and has been contained, the smoke was vented from the building, see photo in the Friday edition of The Westfield News;
12:05 p.m.: found property, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a convenience store clerk surrendered a driver’s license reportedly found of the floor of the store, the license was transported to the station for safe keeping;
12:14 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Court St., a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the officer reports the motorcycle was transported to the police impound yard and the operator was provided a courtesy transport to Westfield State University;
12:46 p.m.: illegal dumping, St. John’s Lutheran Church, a caller reports that a group of church members raking leaves behind the church discovered that bags of trash had been dumped in the bushes at the edge of the church property, the responding officer reports a name and address was found amidst the refuse but he was not able to immediately contact the suspect;
12:50 p.m.: suspicious person, Elm Street, a clerk from an Elm Street convenience store called to report that a customer asked him to change a $50 bill which failed a legitimacy test, the suspect left with the suspect currency;
3:59 p.m.: larceny, King Avenue, a resident came to the station to report that she was notified that attempts had been made to cash checks stolen from her, the responding officer reports that the complainant said that her checkbook had been in a purse when it was stolen and her banker advised her that two of her checks had been proffered but were not cashed, the woman said that the accounts which had been compromised by the theft of her purse had been closed;
4:04 p.m.: larceny, Broad Street, a caller reports that he is a resident of a Broad Street nursing facility and cash was stolen, the responding officer reports that the man said that he had withdrawn a quantity of cash which was locked up by the management of the facility, the man said that he subsequently was advised that more than $300 of his money was missing, the case was referred to the Detective Bureau;
5:35 p.m.: liquor law violation, Franklin Street, the community policing supervisor reports a liquor law violation near a liquor store, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
6:04 p.m.: liquor law violation, Franklin Street, a community policing officers reports a liquor law violation near a liquor store;
6:12 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, High Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be revoked due to lack of insurance, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
6:36 p.m.: animal complaint, Joseph Avenue, a caller reports she has taken custody of a stray German shepherd dog, the responding animal control officer reports she took custody of the dog and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
6:59 p.m.: animal complaint, Fowler Street, a caller reports that her dog was bitten by a stray pit bull dog, the responding officer reports the woman said that her dog suffered cuts on its muzzle which she does not believe require veterinary care, the officer reports the suspect dog was located and the animal control officer was notified;
8:09 p.m.: liquor law violation, Franklin Street, the community policing supervisor reports a liquor law violation near a liquor store, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
9:19 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street at Emery Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
10:21 p.m.: liquor law violation, Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports a liquor law violation near a liquor store, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
10:35 p.m.: disturbance, Southwood Acres, 342 Southwick Road, a caller reports his mother is intoxicated and is in the parking lot screaming and punching his vehicle, the responding officer reports the woman was deemed to be too intoxicated to care for herself and was placed in protective custody.
