12:09 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a male party urinating on the side of the court house, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
1:49 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Main Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the officer reports the vehicle in question was registered in December but never inspected, a criminal complaint was filed and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
6:19 a.m.: disturbance, Southwick Road, a caller reports that the father of her children is violent and refusing to let her leave with the children, the responding officer reports both parties asserted that the disturbance had been entirely verbal, both were advised of their protective order options and that the Department of Children and Families would be notified of the incident the children witnessed;
6:44 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Tannery Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the officer reports the vehicle’s registration was expired and non-renewable, the vehicle was towed;
8:16 a.m.: suspicious item, Union Street, city workers reports a suspicious package near a city well, see story in the Monday edition of The Westfield News;
10:01 a.m.: found property, Munger Hill School, 33 Mallard Lane, a deputy fire chief reports finding contraband on school property, the responding officer reports a tiny amount of marijuana was found in a small plastic bag and was properly disposed of;
10:51 a.m.: larceny, Servistar Industrial Way, a caller reports commercial refrigeration units were stolen from his business, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he last saw the four missing units at least a week ago, the complainant valued the refrigeration units at about $1,000 each, the officer reports he checked a local scrap yard and found three of the units had been sold by known parties, the officer spoke with one of the suspects who agreed to come to the station for an interview, the man admitted that he and the other suspect stole the property, criminal complaints were filed;
12:24 p.m.: officer wanted, Mechanic Street, a caller reports finding two hypodermic needles, the responding officer reports the needles were properly disposed of at Noble Hospital;
2:32 p.m.: larceny, Summer Street, a resident came to the station to report a larceny, the responding officer reports that the complainant said that about an hour earlier two known parties had been at her apartment and after they left she was unable to find a class ring she valued at $400 which she had seen earlier in the day;
5:33 p.m.: larceny, Apremont Way, a caller reports a male party attempted to steal garage door openers, the responding officer reports the business owner said that he had been away for a week and returned to find that nine garage door openers with a total value of $3,555 were stolen by an employee, the officer spoke with suspect who said that he had gained access to the business using employee knowledge and had sold the garage door openers but would try to retrieve them, the officer advised the man that a criminal complaint for larceny from a building would be filed;
6:14 p.m.: fire, Sabrina Brooke Lane, a caller reports a brush fire, the responding deputy fire chief reports a small brush fire was extinguished;
7:05 p.m.: harassment, Granville Road, a resident came to the station to report that she is being harassed by a former boyfriend, the responding officer reports this is an ongoing issue, the complainant said that the problem began April 11 when a former boyfriend called with accusations that she was speaking ill of him, the officer reports that while he was speaking with the woman the man called again and he spoke with the suspect who said that the woman has been harassing him and agreed to come to the city May 5 to show the officer documentation of her harassment, the officer advised the woman to keep a log of any further contact with the suspect pending his meeting with him;
7:36 p.m.: fire, Smith Avenue, a caller reports a resident is burning furniture, the responding deputy fire chief reports attended unauthorized burning was found and the fire was extinguished;
7:43 p.m.: assist citizen, East Main Street, a caller reports her two-month-old child is locked in her vehicle, the responding deputy fire chief reports entry was made;
8:37 p.m.: vandalism, Stone Path Lane, a caller reports three or four youths with a go-kart knocked over her mailbox and newspaper box, the responding officer reports the resident suggested an address for the suspects and a youth there acknowledged that he had struck the mail box but claimed it was an accident, the boy agreed to repair the damage and the resident was advised to contact the officer if he fails to do so;
8:51 p.m.: disturbance, Joyce Drive, a caller reports an altercation with her husband, the responding officer reports he spoke with woman who appeared to be intoxicated and said that her husband had grabbed her purse, pushed her to the ground and dragged her by her hair, the officer noted that the woman’s story changed drastically in the telling, the officer also spoke with male party who did not appear to be impaired by alcohol and said that his wife had his iPad in her purse and he took it from her and returned it as soon as he retrieved the device;
10:58 p.m.: larceny, Broad Street, a caller reports his vehicle was stolen while he was at a veteran’s organization, the responding officer reports that the complainant said that he arrived about 10 p.m. and noticed his vehicle was missing about 11 p.m., a caller reported a short time later that an unknown vehicle had been parked in his driveway on Shepard Street for about an hour and was running, the vehicle in question was found to be the complainant’s missing vehicle and a K-9 unit followed a track from the vehicle to the Orange Street area before the dog lost the scent.
