12:09 a.m.: suspicious activity, Mechanic Street at Cherry Street, a patrol officer reports he observed youths attempting to steal a street sign and thwarted their efforts;
12:58 a.m.: liquor law violation, an officer detailed to an alcohol enforcement effort reports he observed two college-aged youths sitting on a curb while in possession of cans of beer, a city ordinance violation citation was issued to one of the youths, William Ashford MacDonald, 21, of 712 Willow St., Yarmouth, was arrested for a municipal ordinance violation (possession of an open container of alcohol in public), he was released on bail to the custody of his girlfriend who was advised of his level of intoxication and agreed to care for him;
1:02 p.m.: disturbance, Springfield Road, a caller from a Springfield Road department store reports youths are causing a disturbance, the responding officer reports five youths were identified, advised to modify their behavior and left the store;
3:45 p.m.: found property, Westgate Plaza, East Main Street, a caller reports finding hypodermic needles, the responding officer reports two hypodermic needles were safely disposed of;
8:10 p.m.: larceny, North Elm Street, a caller reports a customer stole her cellphone from her workplace, the responding officer reports the caller said that she had left her cellphone outside the store on a charger and it was stolen;
11:30 p.m.: disturbance, Willows Apartments, a caller reports she can hear screaming but cannot tell if neighbors are arguing or engaging in amorous activities, the responding officer reports the resident and a guest said that they had met that evening and were getting to know each other better, the officer advised them to restrain their vocalizations.
