Major crime and incident report

12:09 a.m.: noise complaint, Mechanic Street, caller reports a loud party disturbing the peace, officer reports between 40 and 50 people at a party of college-aged subjects, officer spoke with person renting the apartment who was uncooperative with getting her guests, most of whom were outside, into the building, several parking tickets were issued for sidewalk and tree belt violations, renter advised she would be issued a complaint if there were further complaints;
2:18 a.m.: suspicious activity, area of 132 North Elm St., caller reports a male used a crow bar to smash the window of a motor vehicle, caller provided description of subject and the clothing he was wearing, officer reports locating the subject who had returned to change a flat tire, but forgot his keys at home and shattered the window to gain entry, property owner agreed to let the subject leave his car in the lot, subject will complete repairs to vehicle at later time;
2:59 a.m.: domestic disturbance, arrest, 627 Russell Road, caller reports that she received a text message from her daughter whose husband was intoxicated and had threatened her with a handgun if she did not leave him alone, daughter took her children and left the apartment, officers dispatched and located the male subject who was in possession of a pellet gun which appeared to be an actual firearm, William Velasquez, 42 of 627-A Russell Road was taken into custody on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
12:44 p.m.: property found, Lazer Carwash, 334 East main St., citizen came to the station with a bank bag full of quarters, $160 total, officer reports contact the car wash staff and that they would come to the station to recover the property;
4:13 p.m.: shoplifting, Walmart, 141 Springfield Road, store employee reports a Hispanic male shoplifted items from the store, then left the area, heading east on Route 20, in a silver Jeep Cherokee, officer reports subject stole $532 worth of razors and other shaving items, store security was able to retrieve items after suspect left building, West Springfield and Chicopee police notified of incident;
7:25 p.m.: shoplifting, Stop & Shop Supermarket, 57 Main St., staff member reports male subject came into the store and left without paying for nine boxes of diapers, caller provided registration plate number of suspect’s vehicle which left the parking lot heading east on Route 20, West Springfield police contacted and report that the same vehicle was involved in a shoplifting incident, in which five boxes of diapers were taken, at 1:38 p.m. in their community;
7:32 p.m.: shoplifting, CVS, 208 Elm Street, store security came to station to request assistance in identifying a subject who shoplifted Red Bull, security had theft on video tape, officer reports being unable to identify the suspect at this time;
10:23 p.m.: suspicious activity, North Middle School, caller reports a gathering of youths on school property, officer reports locating the youths who stated they were there to observe the meteor shower, advised to leave the property after the show ends.
