Major crime and incident report
Friday, Aug. 9, 2013
4:23 p.m. larceny, 85 Franklin St., citizen came to police headquarters for theft of prescription medication, citizen is unsure if she just misplaced medication or if it was stolen and wants to make report, information taken, no further services required;
5:08 p.m.; investigation, Progress Avenue, alarm company reports commercial burglar alarm, main door of business, officer reports key holder not available, officer reports locating a male subject sitting on the steps of the building, male stated that he works for another company that occupies half of the building and that he is waiting for a ride after just getting off shift, officer then checked other doors of the building and found an unlocked door on the side of the structure, officer entered the building and observed another male who was making a delivery, officer identified that subject and requested shipping documents to prove that he was indeed delivering items, subject provided documents, officer also inspected the subject’s vehicle, subject stated that he was directed to use the side door and that it would be unlocked, subject then left and officer secured the door, services rendered;
6:31 p.m.: motor vehicle accident with injury, City View Boulevard, near intersection of Granville Road, officer reports a vehicle struck a utility pole, motorist complained of back pain and was transported by Fire Department ambulance to Noble Hospital for treatment, officer requested a tow truck to remove the vehicle, officer reports impact of collision split the utility pole, Westfield Gas & Electric Department notified of damage to pole;
7:18 p.m.: disturbance, Sackett Street, caller reports a large gathering of youths and suspects a fight in progress, officer dispatched and reports that the majority of the youths ran up onto the levee path and scattered, officer located a subject who was assaulted, suspect identified, criminal complaint filed for assault and battery;
10:53 p.m.: vandalism, Frederick Street, caller reports that a tire of her vehicle was “popped”, officer reports caller suspects ex-boyfriend, who had been at the caller’s residence, slashed the tire, information taken.

2:02 a.m.: property found, City View Road, citizen came to report finding a black purse in the roadway, citizen sent the owner a Facebook message that he was bringing her property to the station, officer reports owner came to station to recover her property;
4:35 a.m.: motor vehicle complaint, Southampton Road, officer observed a vehicle exit the Powdermill Apartments on Union Street at a high rate of speed, officer followed the vehicle and also observed that it no longer had an exhaust system, officer stopped the vehicle, operator’s license had been suspended, vehicle left in parking lot, operator given a citation and a courtesy ride to her place of work on Southampton Road;
9:38 a.m.: medical emergency, 49 George Street, officer reports subject with a facial injury which suspects was the possible result of an assault, subject declined to provide information, transported by Fire Department ambulance to Noble Hospital for treatment;
10:17 a.m.: motor vehicle accident with injury, Little River Road, caller reports three-car collision and a female with a bloody nose, officer reports rear-end, chain-collision accident, female who sustained nose injury was rear car, female transported to Noble Hospital, female’s vehicle was towed from the scene
4:51 p.m.: motor vehicle fire, JJ’s Variety, Montgomery Road, caller reports that her vehicle has flames under the hood and that her vehicle is parked close to the building, officer reports firefighters extinguished the fire, the vehicle owner was pouring oil into the engine and spilled some oil on the hot engine block with ignited the oil, vehicle towed from scene;
7:56p.m.: domestic disturbance, Western Massachusetts Hospital, 91 East Mountain Road, caller reports child assaulted, both parents at scene, officers dispatched, officer contacted Agawam police to do a well-being check on two-year-old child, each parent was alleging that the other was not providing the child with adequate care, Agawam reports that the child is fine and in the care of her 16-year-old brother, officer requesting state trooper respond because hospital is state property and there is a narcotic violation, state police placed male party under arrest;
10:12 p.m.: disturbance, arrest, Montgomery Road, caller reports a relative at a family reunion is intoxicated and creating a disturbance, officer reports that the unruly male was the subject of a default warrant, Joseph Perron, 46, of 8 East Main St., Webster, Mass., taken into custody.
