12:18 p.m.: assist other police department, Southampton Road, Southampton police received a report of a male falling asleep behind the wheel of a motor vehicle parked at a package store, unsure of male is intoxicated or has medical condition, Southampton patrol officer reports locating the vehicle, operator having reaction to medication, requesting assistance in locating relatives, Westfield officer reports parents responded to that location to take custody of son and his vehicle, services rendered;
1:01 p.m.: motor vehicle complaint, North Road, caller reports erratic operation of a motor vehicle, vehicle almost went off the roadway, officer reports locating the vehicle on Southampton Road, officer stopped vehicle and check on operator who did not appear to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol, operator admitted to “messing with her telephone” while driving, officer issued warning about danger of distracted driving;
5:29 p.m.: suspicious activity, Westfield Feed, 288 Union St., citizen called to report taking two bags of wood pellets, citizen reports he has an arrangement with the manager and will pay for the pellets when the store opens in the morning, officer assigned to contact store and ensure that citizen does indeed pay for merchandise;
7:16 p.m.: suspicious activity, Russell Road, area of Four-Mile Country Store, caller reports hearing a bang on the side of his vehicle, found damage consistent with a projectile strike, a BB, and suspects a person shooting at passing vehicles, officer reports area search negative;
10:40 p.m.: domestic disturbance, arrest, 338 Elm St., officer flagged down by citizen who reported that a male was highly intoxicated and was assaulting a female, officer gained entry to residence and located a male and female, female stated male had thrown her around their apartment, officer observed visible sign of injury to females wrists and chest, Brian T. Wysocki, 49, of that address charged with assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
11:59 p.m.: traffic complaint, North Elm Street, callers report erratic operation of a northbound vehicle, officer located vehicle and reports that it crossed lanes lines several times and crossed the double yellow line, forcing a southbound vehicle to swerve to avoid a collision, officer activated siren and light, motorist attempted to evade the officer, turning onto Holyoke Road and accelerating, speed as high as 80 miles an hour, vehicle turned onto Lynnwood Drive and then onto Springdale road where officer was able to stop vehicle, motorist was not compliant, officer, concerned with his own safety and that of the public, used chemical spray to force motorist to exit the vehicle, Richard K. Eldridge, 41, of 14 Dean Pond Road, Brimfield, charged with failing to stop for a police officer, speeding, marked lane violations, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, a stop sign violation and operating under the influence of alcohol.
