Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012
12:30 a.m.: alarm, East Silver Street, a caller from an alarm company reports glass break and motion alarms at a liquor store, the responding officer reports he found the glass front door had been broken and entry appeared to have been made, detectives responded to assist and a K-9 unit from Southwick was asked to respond, the detectives report the dog followed a scent but lost it on Broad Street, a responding key holder reports liquor was stolen;
9:35 a.m.: larceny, City Hall, Court Street, a contractor came to the station to report vandalism to a generator at the City Hall work site, the responding officer reports the complainant said that a cable had been cut and a battery and adapter had been stolen over the Christmas holiday;
2:36 p.m.: found property, Main Street, a Springfield resident came to the station to surrender a cell phone found on the Main Street sidewalk near White Street;
4:58 p.m.: identity fraud, Orange Street, a resident came to the station to report her social security number has been used to open a utility account without her knowledge, the responding officer reports the woman said that she attempted to open a G&E account and was informed that her social security number was already associated with an existing account;
6:25 p.m.: disturbance, Danek Drive, a caller reports her adult son is intoxicated and causing a disturbance, the responding officer reports that while speaking with caller he observed her son walking in the roadway, the officer spoke with the man and noted obvious symptoms of alcohol intoxication, the officer reports the man was deemed to be unable to care for himself and was placed in protective custody;
7:03 p.m.: Franklin Street, a caller reports that two young boys in the store said that their bicycles had been stolen, the responding officer reports he found that the boys’ brothers had taken the bikes and ridden them to their home;
9:23 p.m.: incapacitated person, Arnold Street, a caller reports an incapacitated person is falling every time he gets up, the responding officer reports he found the incapacitated person to be a man who is well known to city police and provided him with a courtesy transport to his home where his roommates took custody of him;

Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012
1:21 a.m.: parking violations, in the hours between 1:21 and 9:24 a.m. officers responded to 31 calls for parked vehicles hindering snow removal efforts on Bush, Chestnut, Dartmouth, Elm, East Bartlett, Frederick, George, Lewis, Princeton and State streets and Day, Morris, Noble, Parker, Parkside and Taylor avenues and issued parking citations, one vehicle was towed from Elm Street;
2:12 a.m.: assist citizens, Meadow Street, a patrol officer reports she provided a shovel to two recent arrivals to the city from a southern state so they could clear their driveway enough to park their vehicle;
2:56 a.m.: assist citizen, Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports he encountered a motorist who had run out of gas and provided her with a courtesy transport to a gas station;
7:28 a.m.: assist citizen, Sandy Hill Road, a caller reports that her keys are locked inside her running vehicle and requests assistance, the responding firefighters report access to the vehicle was gained;
2:30 p.m.: parking violation, Foss Street, a caller from the DPW reports a vehicle parked in violation of the snow parking ban is blocking passage for a trash truck and a similar situation prevails on Bristol Street, the responding officer reports one of the vehicles was removed by the owner and a parking citation was issued for the other;
4:24 p.m.: assist citizen, a resident came to the station to request assistance as she takes custody of her son, services rendered.
