Emergency Response and Crime Report
WESTFIELD
Monday, Dec. 9, 2013
5:37 a.m.: accident, West Silver Street, a caller reports he was involved in a single vehicle motorcycle crash and may have broken his collar bone, the responding officer reports the operator was not able to maintain control of his motorcycle on the icy roadways, the operator was transported to Noble Hospital where he was treated and released;
9:05 a.m.: violation of a protective order, Pilgrim Drive, a caller reports the defendant of a protective order violated the ‘No contact’ clause of the order by contacting her on a social networking website, the responding officer reports he discovered that the order had not been served;
9:12 a.m.: accident, Hillside Road, a multiple callers report a rollover accident, the responding officer reports a vehicle slid off the roadway and rolled when it went into a ditch, no injuries were reported;
3:08 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the car was towed to the police impound yard;
6:46 p.m.: assault, Southwood Acres, 342 Southwick Road, a resident came to the station to complain that she was assaulted by a friend, the responding officer reports the woman said that a friend had called saying that he was cold and hungry so she agreed to feed him, the woman said that the man came to her home and, after eating, an argument developed about finances, the woman said that the man grabbed her and prevented her from calling police when she tried to get to her telephone, the woman took refuge in the bathroom but eventually emerged and agreed to take the man to a drug store, the woman said that when he went inside the store she drove directly to the police station, Ryck Crabtree, 23, of 19 Sackett St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship, intimidating a witness and kidnapping;
9:19 p.m.: breaking and entering, Mechanic St., a caller reports he is in a verbal altercation with a neighbor who accuses him of breaking into the man’s apartment, the responding officer reports obvious pry marks on a window indicated how entry was gained and the resident said that electronic devices had been stolen, the officer reports the suspect identified by the victim was not found to be in possession of any of the missing property;
11:53 p.m.: robbery, Westfield Shops, a caller reports two employees of an East Main Street store were robbed at gunpoint, see story in the Thursday edition of The Westfield News.

Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013
1:17 a.m.: found property, Springfield Road, a resident came to the station to surrender a debit card found at a Springfield Road department store, the responding office reports the owner of the card could not be immediately contacted and it was stored for safekeeping;
9:14 a.m.: assist citizen, Third Avenue, a caller reports she has locked her keys and her dog in her car, the responding fire captain reports entry was made;
12:51 p.m.: fraud, Sunset Drive, a resident came to the station to complain that she is the victim of credit card fraud, the responding detective reports that woman said that she discovered two fraudulent charges on a store credit card, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the Detective Bureau;
1:07 p.m.: harassment, Dubois Street, a resident came to the station to complain of harassment by her former boyfriend, the responding officer reports that the woman had made a similar complaint previously and the suspect was advised at that time to stop calling her, the officer reports he spoke with the suspect and advised him that a criminal complaint has been filed, the woman came back to the station at 8:04 a.m. Wednesday to report that the suspect had left a voicemail message at her workplace;
3:42 p.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a caller from an Elm Street drug store reports a person stole cough medicine and fled on foot;
7:15 p.m.: assist citizen, Crown Street, a caller requests that an officer speak with his son and his son’s friends about some missing money, the responding officer reports the caller said that cash disappeared between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., the man identified the three persons who had been in the house during that time period;
8:10 p.m.: arrest, Meadow Street, a detective reports he was attempting to serve warrants when he spotted the subject of the warrants flee into her family’s home, the detective requested additional officers when he was not allowed entry, the suspect and other person were seen inside the house and forcible entry was made, Yelena Kostyushko, 28, of 177 Meadow Street, was arrested on five outstanding warrants.
