5:23 a.m.: accident, Little River Road at Pontoosic Road, multiple callers reports a rollover accident, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports that the operator was still inside the car but was not injured and was extricated without the use of hydraulic tools, the operator was transported to Noble Hospital where he was treated and released, the car was towed to the police impound yard, the DPW was notified of icy conditions at the accident scene;
6:50 a.m.: officer wanted, Pearl Street, a caller asks to speaks with an officer about graffiti painted on the snow in her yard, the responding officer reports he suggested that the caller check with her son and his friends, the graffiti was photographed and a search of the area revealed no other similar graffiti;
10:53 a.m.: assist citizen, Westfield State University, 577 Western Ave., a Springfield resident call the station to report that she received a phone call from a person who said that her brother (a WSU student) had been in an accident and was kidnapped, the person told the caller that she had to send him $800 to effect his release, the dispatcher advised the woman that the scenario described is a common scam, WSU campus police were contacted and report that the young man was located and is in no danger;
12:41 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports traffic stop, the officer reports the car’s registration was found to be expired and non-renewable, the car was towed to the police impound yard;
3:14 p.m.: accident, Southampton Road, multiple callers report an accident involving a school bus, the responding officer reports the operator of a pickup truck reports that he was following the school bus and when it stopped he inadvertently depressed the accelerator when he was meant to hit his brakes and his truck struck the bus, the officer reports there were 31 pupils on the bus but none were injured;
7:14 p.m.: infrastructure complaint, Shaker Road at Cardinal Lane, a patrol officer reports numerous potholes are growing in the area of the intersection, the DPW was advised.
