1:26 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating westbound on Russell Road at a high rate of speed and used radar to determine it was traveling at 55 mph in a 35 mph zone, the officer reports he detected an odor of alcohol about the operator who failed a field sobriety test, Kaitlin Lois Palazzi, 21, of 108 Elizabeth Ave., was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding;
8:18 a.m.: city ordinance violation, callers reports sidewalks have not been cleared on Washington Street, Prospect Street Extension, Mechanic Street, Russell Road, Jefferson Street and King Avenue;
10:13 a.m.: safety drill, Highland Elementary School, officers executed a drill to practice police response to an armed intruder in a city school;
12:53 p.m.: assist citizen, Westfield Vocational-Technical High School, 33 Smith Ave., a caller reports being locked out of her running vehicle, the responding deputy fire chief reports entry was gained;
7:00 p.m.: assist citizen, Vadnais Street, a caller reports being locked out of her running vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was gained;
10:01 p.m.: assist other police department, a patrol officer reports he assisted a state trooper who was dealing with several youths, the officer reports the trooper had stopped to speak with three youths who were allegedly throwing snowballs and yelling vulgarities and at least one boy took exception to the attention, the mother of one of the children took custody of them.
