7:10 a.m.: city ordinance violation, callers reports sidewalks have not been properly cleared on Crown Street, Washington Street and King Avenue;
9:07 a.m.: safety drill, Westfield Middle School South, 30 W. Silver St., officers executed a ‘Code White’ drill to practice police response to an armed intruder in a city school;
9:24 a.m.: breaking and entering, Evergreen Manor, 919 Southampton Road, a caller reports all the storage units in one of the buildings at the apartment complex are wide open, the responding officer reports there is no indication why the units are open nor has anything been reported to have been stolen;
12:11 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a traffic enforcement officer requests a tow for a vehicle discovered to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
12:43 p.m.: city ordinance violation, Sherman Street, a patrol officer reports he spoke with a home owner in reference to an uncleared sidewalk and was told that the Franklin Avenue sidewalk was covered with snow by snowplows and he would not clear that part of the sidewalk, the officer advised the man that he will be cited if the sidewalk is still obstructed when he checks on Friday;
1:22 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, a person came to the shelter to surrender an 11-month-old chocolate Labrador retriever dog;
1:43 p.m.: unwanted guest, Big Y, 1 E. Silver St., a detective reports he investigated a person reportedly harassing customers at the store, the detective reports that the man had been granted permission to solicit nomination signatures outside the store but was also encouraging shoppers to complete change of political party affiliation/voter registration forms which he said he would forward to the appropriate agency, the detective reports that he was concerned because the man was soliciting forms which include personal information and reports that he believes that such forms should be conveyed directly to the city clerk without third party intervention, the detective reports that no crime was occurring but also found that the store management was concerned about the activity the man had not mentioned when he asked permission to solicit there, the man refused to leave and was served with a ‘No trespassing order’, the detective reports he checked the Stop and Shop store and found that a solicitor from the same company was there also collecting election forms and had not mentioned that activity to the management, the store manager elected to allow the man to remain in place;
3:01 p.m.: larceny, Old Stage Road, a resident came to the station to report a theft from his property, the responding office reports the complainant said that in the fast few days numerous items including power tools and a battery charger were stolen from an unlocked trailer on his property;
4:12 p.m.: identity fraud, a resident came to the station to report she has been dunned by a collection agency for a telephone account in her name which she did not open, the responding officer reports the complainant said that the account had been opened in Africa or Puerto Rico and she needed a police report to mollify the collection agency;
7:27 p.m.: assist citizen, Southwick Road, a caller reports being locked out of his running truck, the responding firefighters report entry was gained;
9:31 p.m.: violation of a protective order, Robinson Drive, a resident came to the station to complain that a former boyfriend violated the ‘No contact’ clause of a protective order in effect, the responding officer reports the woman said that she got a telephone call from the man and showed him the record on her phone, the officer reports he spoke with suspect who denied making a call to the woman but when he showed his phone to the office a record of the call was found, Zachary Neuser, 18, of 54 Berkshire Drive, was arrested for violation of a protective order.
