10:11 a.m.: fraud, West Bridge Manor, 81 S. Maple St., a resident came to the station to report her debit card was fraudulently used for an online purchase, the responding officer reports the complainant said that she had been notified by an online merchant that a computer valued at $378 she had not ordered had been shipped, the woman said that she found that a second fraudulent transaction was pending, the transactions were voided and the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the Detective Bureau;
11:08 a.m.: unwanted guest, Elm Motel, 50 Russell Road, a caller reports that a tenant has the door locked does not answer when he knocks, the responding officer reports the caller said that the unwelcome guest was highly intoxicated and refuses to leave, the officer reports the man was obviously highly intoxicated and unable to care for himself, the man was placed in protective custody;
12:29 p.m.: carbon monoxide alarm, Walmart, 141 Springfield Road, a caller reports carbon monoxide in the store, see story in the Thursday edition of The Westfield News;
1:53 p.m.: accident, City View Boulevard, a firefighters reports a crash, the responding officer reports the operator said that she had swerved to avoid a squirrel which ran across the roadway and crossed the opposing lane to strike a mailbox, the woman said her vehicle then swerved back to her side of the road before it came to rest in a snow bank, the officer reports that a routine check revealed that the operator’s license had been suspended and that she was the subject of an outstanding warrant, Amanda L. Eicher, 25, of 141 Hartford Ave., Granby, Conn., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and on the 2012 warrant;
3:15 p.m.: animal complaint, King Street, a resident came to the station with a small black and white collie dog reportedly found in the King Street area, the animal control officer was notified and said she would come to the station to take custody of the dog;
6:03 p.m.: fraud, North West Road, a resident report via the on-line reporting option that a caller attempted to obtain information about his computer in an apparent attempt to scam him;
7:33 p.m.: suspicious person, Eastwood Drive, a caller reports a male party wearing a hoodie is going door-to-door in the neighborhood, the responding officer reports he discovered seven persons were soliciting from “Clean water action”, the officer reports he spoke with their supervisor by phone and advised him to gather his workers and leave the area as he had not registered with the department;
8:30 p.m.: assist other agency, Noble Hospital, Court Street, a hospital security officer reports he discovered a couple sleeping in a break room, the officer reports he was unable to find beds for the parties at the Samaritan Inn and they left the hospital;
10:30 p.m.: assault, Department of Youth Services, 51 E. Mountain Road, a Chicopee resident came to the station to report he was assaulted, the responding officer reports the complainant is an employee of the DYS facility and said that he had been assaulted by an inmate.
