WESTFIELD
Emergency Response and Crime
1:17 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle with bald tires and a check revealed that it had not been inspected, the vehicle was stopped and the operator was found to be unlicensed, Mark Demski, 32, of 742 Westfield St., West Springfield, was arrested for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and for operating a motor vehicle which does not meet RMV safety standards, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
2:55 a.m.; suspicious person, West School Street, a caller reports he was walking home and a vehicle operated by a male party who said he was a police officer stopped and queried him, the responding officer reports a search of the area revealed a vehicle in a driveway occupied by a male party ducking out of sight, the officer returned and found a male party lying down as if attempting to conceal himself, the officer reports the man acknowledged speaking with the pedestrian and claiming to be a police officer but admitted he was not an officer, the man displayed the classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication and was placed in protective custody;
10:27 a.m.: larceny, Amelia Park, 21 S. Broad Street, a resident came to the station to report that her telephone was stolen while she was working at the ice arena, the responding officer reports the woman said that on Jan. 26 while she was working her phone was on the counter and was stolen some time during the unusually busy day at the ice rink;
12:24 p.m.: parking violations, police officers report they addressed violations of an imposed snow parking ban on Chapel Street, Cherry Street, St. Paul Street, East Bartlett Street, Jefferson Street, Western Avenue, Holland Avenue, Day Avenue, Taylor Avenue, Cleveland Avenue, Alice Burke Way, Woronoco Avenue, Church Street, McKinley Terrace, Highland Circle, Belmont Street and Irene Drive;
9:47 p.m.: officer wanted, Fowler Street Extension, a caller reports a vehicle is stuck on the railroad tracks, a tow was dispatched and CSX railroad was advised, the vehicle was removed and CSX was advised at 10:31 that the tracks were clear.
