8:52 a.m.: vandalism, Russellville Road, a caller reports her vehicle was vandalized overnight, the responding officer reports the complainant said that bricks were thrown at her parked car but it did not appear to have been entered;
9:08 a.m.: fraud, Valley View Drive, a resident came to the station to report that somebody attempted to open a credit account with his personal information;
2:58 p.m.: accident, South Maple Street, a caller reports a child was struck by a vehicle, the responding officer reports the child darted into the path of a vehicle and was struck, the child was transported to Baystate Noble Hospital with injuries which were not believed to be serious;
3:05 p.m.: larceny, Main Street, a resident came to the station to complain that property was stolen from her residence while she was away, the responding officer reports the victim said that a video game system she had leased had been stolen;
5:33 p.m.: fraud, Dewey Street, a caller reports she paid a friend for a house he offered for rent in an on-line ad but when she inspected the property found no house at the indicated address, the woman said that when she saw a house nearby which fit the description of the one offered for rent she assumed there had been an error with the street number and used the key she had been provided to enter, the woman said she entered to find a woman living in the house, the resident subsequently called to report the incident and said that the woman who walked into her home had been very apologetic and cooperative, the responding officer reports that the man who accepted the rent money and provided the key is apparently en route to Florida, the investigation is ongoing; See story in the June 5th edition of  The Westfield News
9:49 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a patrol officer reports a street sign was struck by a vehicle which swerved to avoid a crash with a vehicle which fit the description of one officers had been advised to be on the lookout for because of erratic operation, the officer reports the suspect vehicle was found and stopped nearby, the operator was determined to be intoxicated, Travis J. Hazeltine, 40, of 955 Valleyview Lane, Collierville, Tenn., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor and for negligent operation of a motor vehicle, the car was towed to the police impound yard.
