1:54 a.m.: suspicious activity, Greif Way, a patrol officer reports that a man found near a refuse receptacle at Greif Way business who said that he was “scrapping”, the officer reports he observed metal items in the truck and notified a company representative who responded to the scene, the responding employee identified useful company property in the truck valued at about $1,700, Michael R. Rossman, 38, of 9 Cleveland Ave., was arrested for larceny of property valued more than $250 and for trespass;
10:46 a.m.: found property, Southwick Road at City View Road, a patrol officer reports a passing motorist informed him of an obstruction in the roadway, the responding officer reports that he found four moving blankets and a mat on the side of the road which may have been fallen from a passing vehicle, the property was transported to the station for safe keeping;
11:10 a.m.: annoying phone calls, Casimir Street, a caller reports receiving two threatening phone calls, the responding officer reports that the complainant said that calls were received on both his cellphone and his landline apparently from different numbers but the caller’s voice was the same in both calls, in one case the caller said he would “be sorry” for stealing his newspaper regularly and in the other call the caller said he would “be sorry” for putting “Christian things” outside his house which are derogatory to the caller’s family, the man said that he doesn’t have to steal a newspaper as he has his own subscription and that he does not know what “Christian things” the caller is referring to;
2:09 p.m.: found property, Morris Street, a resident came to the station to surrender a found ring, the responding officer reports the man said that he found the man’s ring in the middle of the road while delivering newspapers, the ring was stored for safekeeping;
5:28 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to have been revoked for lack of insurance and it was towed to the police impound yard;
6:17 p.m.: assist resident, Washington House, 16 Washington St., a community policing officer reports residents asked for assistance regarding a “final notice” demand letter, the CPO reports the residents said that they had called a number when they received a letter claiming a property lien and were told to send the company $3,500 to resolve the issue, the CPO reports she called the number and the person who responded was defensive, evasive and not forthcoming, the CPO advised the man that the residents did not wish to have any dealing with him and advised the residents to ignore the notice and to inform her of any further contact from the company;
7:17 p.m.: assist resident, East Main Street, an employee of an East Main Street restaurant requests assistance with a customer who arrived at the restaurant intoxicated and should not drive, the caller said that the local taxi company declined to respond, the responding officer reports the man was provided a courtesy transport to an Overlook Drive address;
7:47 p.m.: animal complaint, Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, a community policing officer reports she received numerous complaints about an aggressive dog roaming the apartment complex, the CPO reports she observed a black and white boxer dog walking free in the complex which would not let her get close to it and she followed the dog until it returned to its home, the CPO spoke with the owner and advised her of the pertinent city ordinances and the penalties for violations, the owner said she had been unaware of the regulations and agreed to leash the dog;
8:11 p.m.: vandalism, George Street, a resident reports via the online reporting option that cigarette butts and other items have been thrown on her car apparently from an upper floor apartment window, the reporting party states that the landlord is planning to set up a camera to determine where the debris is coming from;
9:17 p.m.: officer wanted, Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, a caller reports a known party is in her home and will not leave, the caller said that the man ran outside while she was on the phone, the responding officer reports he found the man outside the apartment and noted that he appeared to be intoxicated, the man readily admitted being intoxicated and the caller said that she wanted to serve the man with a ‘No trespass’ order, the community policing officer for the area also responded and reports that when she went to speak with the caller she found the caller’s daughter banging on her door calling for her mother, the CPO reports the caller said that she would care for her highly intoxicated daughter.
