12:02 a.m.: assist citizen, Noble Hospital, 115 W. Silver St., a caller from the hospital requests a courtesy transport for an 84-year-old patient who is being discharged, the responding officer reports that the man was transported to his Tannery Road home, the officer assisted the man inside and helped him connect his oxygen supply;
9:16 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the officer reports the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and it was towed;
9:59 a.m.: fire, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a fire alarm was received from the high school, dual response dispatched, see story in the Friday edition of The Westfield News;
10:40 a.m.: identity fraud, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports one of her mother’s former personal care attendants has opened an online account in her mother’s name, the responding officer reports the complaint said that she noticed an unauthorized debit to her mother’s bank account and investigated to find that an account with an online retailer has been opened in her mother’s name and the name of a former PCA was also associated with the account, the caller said that her mother does not own a computer or know how to navigate the Internet, she said that she is afraid that similar fraudulent purchases have been made because her mother does not routinely scrutinize her bank statements, the officer reports he was unable to immediately contact the suspect and the case was referred to the detective bureau;
11:27 a.m.: assist other agency, Westfield District Court, 224 Elm St., a court official requests that an officer take into custody the subject of an involuntary court-ordered medical commitment, the responding officer reports the man was transported to the court;
1:21 p.m.: accident, Western Avenue, a caller reports a head-on crash near the Russell town line, the responding officer reports one of the operators said that she slid on ice and crossed the center line to enter the path of a westbound vehicle, the woman said that she was not wearing a seat belt, she was transported to Baystate Medical Center where she was treated and admitted, the other operator was transported to Noble Hospital where she was treated and released;
3:58 p.m.: officer wanted, Main Street, a caller reports that a neighbor is “chainsawing” his way into her apartment from the hallway, the responding officer reports he found that the neighbor was repairing a hole in the drywall but had not cut through to the caller’s bedroom, the officer reports a representative of the landlord responded and said that she would consult with the owner, the man was advised to stop work until a decision is made on how to proceed with the repair;
4:29 p.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a caller from a doughnut shop reports a charitable donation can was stolen from the counter, the responding officer reports the owner provided a video image of the suspect which was posted to a social media site in an attempt to identify the woman, the officer reports that numerous callers identified the woman whose identity was verified by her driver’s license photo, a relative of the suspect called and said that the suspect has addiction issues and has recently relapsed, the woman made restitution for the theft, no charges have been filed;
6:59 p.m.: found property, a representative of a West Springfield car dealer came to the station to surrender a passport, social security card and debit card found in a vehicle in the dealership’s possession, the responding officer reports that he was not immediately able to contact the owner and the property was stored pending another attempt to return the items;
9:27 p.m.: larceny, Wild Flower Circle, a resident came to the station to complain that one of his sons stole another son’s cellphone and sold it, the responding officer reports the phone was not immediately recovered because the store where the suspect allegedly sold it was closed, criminal complaints are pending.
