Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013
4:40 p.m.: suspicious person, George Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a known man he believed to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, the warrant was confirmed, Matthew W. Phaneuf, 50, of 15 Ashley St., was arrested on the warrant;
6:33 p.m.: disturbance, Main Street, a caller reports a female party was chased from her apartment by her former boyfriend, the responding officer reports the couple had been engaged in a verbal argument in a Main Street parking lot, the male party struck and broke a window of a nearby business and also struck the woman’s vehicle putting her in fear, Jordan K. Wright, 22, of 90 Oswego St., Springfield, was arrested for assault, disorderly conduct and two counts of vandalizing property;
6:49 p.m.: loitering, Park Square, a caller reports youths are skateboarding at the Green, the responding officer report there youths were advised of the restrictions at Park Square and sent on their ways;

Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013
12:40 a.m.: vandalism, White Street, a caller reports four youths are vandalizing his vehicle, the responding officer reports the suspects had left the area and a patrol officer stopped a suspect vehicle on North Elm Street, the officer brought the suspect to his Sterling Street home to speak with his parents, the victim said that his friends had been attempting to wrap his vehicle in plastic, he said that he does not wish to pursue criminal charges but asks that police encourage them to desist, the suspect’s parents were advised and indicated they would take disciplinary actions;
1:39 p.m.: animal complaint, The Willows Apartments, 19 Lockhouse Road, a caller reports taking custody of a stray St. Bernard dog, the director of animal control operations reports the dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
6:10 p.m.: accident, Western Avenue, a Westfield State University police officer reports that a vehicle struck a dog, the responding officer reports the dog’s owner called and said that his golden retriever dog got away from him and enterrd the path of a vehicle which struck it, the man told the officer that the dog was injured but fled and he is still searching for it;
9:13 p.m.: arrest, Van Dussen Apartments, 42 Arnold St., officers were detailed to attempt to serve an Arnold Street resident with outstanding warrants, the responding officer reports the suspect was found hiding under a bed at his last known address, Kyle E. Barboza, 22, of 41 Arnold St., was arrested on four warrants;
10:47 p.m.: fire, 17 Westminster St., a caller reports a stove fire has been extinguished by an odor of gas has been observed, the residence has been evacuated.
