1:29 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Arnold Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a man in a parking lot urinating next to a pickup truck, the officer reports when he confronted the man he denied urinating, the officer reports he directed the man’s attention to the steaming puddle at his feet and suggested that he re-think his claim, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
1:30 a.m.: disturbance, Meadow Street, a caller reports a large fight, the responding officer reports he found four college aged youths on the porch which showed evidence of a recent altercation, the officer reports the tenant denied any need for police services but allowed the officer to check the apartment for under aged drinkers, the officer noted several alcohol bottles as well as marijuana and paraphernalia on a coffee table, the contraband was seized and a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
1:50 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Arnold Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a man in a parking lot urinating between two parked vehicles, the officer reports he approached the man who apologized and agreed that it would not be good idea to drive home, the man was provided a courtesy transport to the station where he arranged for a ride home;
1:20 p.m.: animal complaint, Taylor Avenue, a caller reports an unknown beagle dog was attached to a dog tie-out she has in her back yard, the responding animal control officer reports the dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter where its owner was waiting;
2:21 p.m.: vandalism, North Elm Street, a caller reports she discovered her vehicle had a flat tire and observed a pocket knife protruding from the tire, the responding officer reports that there was no vandalism and the damage was caused by a road hazard, a small pair of pliers was found embedded in the tire;
4:15 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, the animal control officer reports she took custody of an intact male Weimaraner dog;
5:23 p.m.: disturbance, Cedar Lane, a caller reports her adult grandson is intoxicated, combative and no longer welcome, the responding officer reports the man was found in the cellar and was obviously highly intoxicated, the man was unable to find anybody who would care for him and was unhappy to be advised he was being placed in protective custody, when the man was being escorted up the cellar stairs he repeatedly attempted to push an officer down he stairs and was taken to the ground, in the process the man suffered a facial laceration and was transported to Noble Hospital before he was returned to the station for booking, Greg Thomas Petlak, 32, of 46 Cedar Lane, was arrested for assault and battery on a police officer and for resisting arrest;
6:20 p.m.: larceny, East Silver Street, a caller from an East Silver Street supermarket reports two children had have been caught shoplifting, the responding officer reports that the boys were identified and served with “No trespassing” orders, the officer stayed with boys until their parents came for them;
7:27 p.m.: disturbance, Lindbergh Boulevard, an off duty community policing officer reports a possible domestic disturbance, the responding officer reports the resident said that her boyfriend was intoxicated and no longer welcome, the man said that he had no place to go and was placed in protective custody, the man’s brother came to take custody of him;
8:36 p.m.: fire, Lockhouse Road, a resident came to the Southampton Road fire sub-station to report a burning complaint, the responding firefighters report illegal burning was extinguished;
10:32 p.m.: liquor law violation, Mechanic Street, community policing officers reports two young men were found to be in possession of alcohol, city ordinance violations were issued to each party;
10:37 p.m.: loitering, East Main Street, a caller from a donut shop reports 60-70 persons in the store are being disruptive and uncooperative with staff, the responding officer reports the occupants were dispersed but one party refused to leave and created a disturbance, with the officers, Alkesandr Yurovskih, 22, of 38 Shepard St., was arrested for trespass and disorderly conduct;
11:34 p.m.: breaking and entering, Holyoke Road, a caller reports she returned home to find it had been ransacked, the responding officer reports a window had been compromised to gain entry and jewelry was stolen;
11:40 p.m.: suspicious person, Spring Street, the community policing supervisor reports that a male party carrying a bag was seen in a parking lot and fled when an officer approached, patrol officers were notified and one reported finding the suspect hiding in bushes on Spring Street, a bag that looked like the one the suspect had been seen carrying was found nearby and was found to contain packaged marijuana and scales, Christopher A. Szcepanek, 25, of 7 Sibley Ave., was arrested for possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute.
