12:09 a.m.: unwanted guests, Taylor Avenue, a caller reports her former boyfriend and another party are on her porch and she believes they intend to spend the night there, the responding officer reports a routine check revealed that one of the men was the subject of an outstanding warrant, Joshua W. Ault, of no fixed address in Westfield, was arrested on the warrant;
9:46 a.m.: assault, West School Street, a school resource officer reports a Westfield Vocational-Technical High School pupil advised him that while walking on West School Street near the school a male contemporary approached and punched him for no apparent reason, the boy said he did not know the other boy, the officer noted that an indication of minor injury was observed on the boy’s face;
11:57 a.m.: larceny, Kasper Drive, a resident came to the station to report that a known party stole several hundred dollars from him, the responding officer reports the complainant said that a homeless female party he had allowed to stay at his home until recently returned to his home on Monday and asked for shelter, the man said that he allowed her to stay but went to the bathroom and found her gone when he emerged, he man said he checked his wallet and found more than $400 missing, the man told the officer that a neighbor said that the woman had been seen counting a large amount of money as she left his residence, the officer reports a request for a warrant on a charge of larceny of property valued more than $250 was filed;
1:05 p.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a caller from an Elm Street drug store reports a customer left his credit card on the counter and the subsequent customer stole it, the responding officer reports the employee said that a man had taken his credit and debit cards out to pay for a prescription and put them on the counter but was told that it was not yet ready, the employee said the man inadvertently left the cards on the counter when he sat down to wait but when he returned the cards were gone, the employee said that a review of security video showed the next customer pick up the cards and look over both her shoulders before putting them in her purse, the employee identified the suspect and the officer was able to speak with the woman who eventually produced the cards and said she took them by mistake, the cards were returned to the owner and the suspect was advised that a criminal complaint for larceny would be filed;
2:46 p.m.: assault, Orange Street, a juvenile resident and her mother came to the station to complain that she was assaulted by a schoolmate, the responding officer reports the girl said that after she debarked from her school bus Friday a girl with whom she has previously had issues touched her face with a lit cigarette before she pushed the girl’s hand away, the officer noted a faint red mark on the girl’s face, the girl’s mother said that she does not wish to pursue criminal charges but wants the incident documented;
2:50 p.m.: assault, Yale Street, a caller reports that while walking on Yale Street a male party exited a vehicle, choked and kicked him and left in the vehicle, the responding officer reports the caller said that he was assaulted by a male and two adult witnesses supported his account, the officer spoke with the registered owner of the vehicle who directed him to her son, the officer reports the man said that rocks or ice were thrown at the vehicle by the children and when he confronted the group the victim swore at him, the officer noted signs of minor damage to the vehicle and reports he advised the boy’s mother of the situation and she asked that charges be filed ;
3:19 p.m.: breaking and entering, McKinley Terrace, a caller reports seeing a parent of one of the tenants breaking into a common storage area, the responding detective reports that nothing is known to have been stolen;
4:11 p.m.: fraud, Western Avenue, a resident came to the station to complain of fraud related to his telephone account, the responding officer reports that he reviewed his bill and found that two additional phone lines had been added to his account without his knowledge and consent.
