Major crime and incident report

7:53 a.m.: Hit and run accident, Highland Avenue. Police received a report for a vehicle that struck another sometime during the overnight hours. There were car parts in the street but there was no plate information or witnesses.

1:46 p.m.: Disturbance, Elm Street. Police received a call from a concerned citizen after they overheard an argument and a window breaking. police investigated and found that the apartment was empty upon their arrival. After investigating further they contacted the residents and found that 30 percocet pills were missing from the residence. No additional information. Police made no arrests.

4:13 p.m.: Disturbance, Second Avenue. Police received a report from a caller who said that they were being threatened by someone they knew with a gun. They were disputing over a recent family member who died. Police investigated and refuted that there was any gun that was pointed or used. No arrests were made.

6:17 p.m.: Well-being check, Maple Terrace. Police received a report from the Department of Children and Families that said there was an anonymous call that claimed a man was currently intoxicated and not feeding his two children that are currently with him. Police investigated and found no signs of intoxication and food that was plentiful in the home, in addition to recently eating dinner. No arrests made.

8:48 p.m.: Motor vehicle violation and arrest, Springfield Road. Police were driving on Springfield Road and ran the plate of a driver in front of them. They found that Daniel Lugo, 33, of Westfield, was driving with a suspended license. Police arrested Lugo on charges of driving with a suspended license, number plate violation to conceal ID, uninsured motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle. Lugo also had a warrant out for his arrest.

8:54 p.m.: Assault, walk-in. Police received a walk-in complaint that claimed that a man’s brother-in-law shot his chickens with a BB gun, then threatened the man’s son with the gun, saying “you’re next.” Police made no arrests at the time of the report.
