Major crime and incident report

6:33 a.m.:
property found, Cherry Street, caller reports a large fire extinguisher left on the sidewalk in front of residence, officer reports extinguisher brought to station and documented;
6:54 a.m..: suspicious activity, Lindbergh Boulevard, caller reports person going through trash, officer reports locating the subject who was looking for scrap metal, sent on his way;
7:47 a.m.: motor vehicle accident with injury, Western Avenue at the intersection of Granville Road, officer reports rear end collision, both vehicles westbound, operator of the front vehicle, a 2013 Chrysler, had stopped on Western Avenue to turn onto Granville Road, when the operator of the second vehicle, a 2006 Honda, failed to stop and collided with the Chrysler, operator of the Honda transported by Fire Department ambulance to Noble Hospital for treatment;
8:36 a.m.: investigation, Rite Aid Drug Store, 7 East Silver St., caller reports a “beeping” noise, officer reports that it was a problem with fire alarm, no action required;
9:04 a.m.: assist other police agency, Pochassic Road, Southwick police requesting an officer to check on a motor vehicle, officer reports that the vehicle was not the one Southwick was looking for, services rendered;
9:05 a.m.: assist other agency, Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, Health Department code inspector requesting an officer to identify an abandoned motor vehicle, officer reports vehicle was not registered and that the owner no longer resided at the apartment complex, vehicle towed;
10:59 a.m.: attempted breaking and entering, Joseph Avenue, caller reports a broken cellar window, officer reports no entry gained;
12:14 p.m.: larceny, Powdermill Village, 126 Union St., caller reports theft of a white mountain bicycle, officer reports bicycle was taken from caller’s backyard;
1:59 p.m.: traffic complaint, intersection of Pleasant and West Silver streets, officer reports traffic signal out, Westfield Gas & Electric Department notified;
2:02 p.m.: weather complaint, Whitaker Road, caller reports a tree fell across power line, Westfield Gas & Electric Department notified;
5:58 p.m.: suspicious activity, American Legion Post 124, 38 Broad St., caller reports a man sitting in a motor vehicle, detective notified dispatch that the suspicious subject was himself observing pedestrian traffic for the presence of a specific subject, no further services needed;
7:15 p.m.: officer wanted, Orange Street, caller reports residence struck by BB projectile, officer reports speaking with neighbors who reported that another resident, who was not present, has been trying to kill a nuisance squirrel, officer left word for resident to be more careful about discharging the BB gun;
7:35 p.m.: weather complaint, Root Road, caller reports tree down, Department of Public Works and WG&E notified;
7:37 p.m.: weather complaint, Hampden Village, Root Road, Engine 3, ambulance and rescue truck dispatched to assist residents whose mobile homes were damaged by falling trees (see separate story)
8:13 p.m.: assist other police department, Cycle Street, Southwick police seeking the operator of a green Ford Ranger with ladders on a rack which was involved in a hit and run accident on Feeding Hills Road (Route 57) at the intersection of College Highway (Routes 10 & 202), Southwick reports vehicle will have front-end damage, officer reports locating the vehicle and operator, Southwick officers came to the scene to speak with the operator, criminal complaint filed with the court.
