2:23 a.m.: suspicious activity, Orange Street, a patrol officer reports someone placed a row of traffic cones across Orange Street without authority, the cones were removed and transported to the station for safe keeping;
6:42 a.m.: accident, West Silver Street at Mill Street, an off-duty Westfield State University officer reports a crash at the intersection, the responding officer reports he found that a northbound vehicle failed to stop for a red traffic signal and struck the side of a westbound SUV, no injuries were reported but the offending operator said she had no license, Candida Peralta, 44, of 411 East St., New Britain, Conn., was arrested for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and for a red light violation;
8:54 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a traffic enforcement officer reports he observed a vehicle without a valid inspection sticker, the vehicle was stopped and a routine check revealed that the operator’s license had been suspended and that he was the subject of an outstanding warrant, Luis Serrano, 51, of 64 Wilcox St., Springfield, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a subsequent offense, and on the warrant;
12:29 p.m.: larceny, Jefferson Street, a resident came to the station to report that over a period of time video games valued at more than $250 have been stolen from her home, the investigating officer reports a suspect has been identified but the investigation is incomplete;
12:51 p.m.: larceny, Mullen Avenue, a caller reports a larceny, the responding officer reports the caller said that a laptop computer and peripheral equipment have been stolen, the officer reports that his investigation is continuing;
1:17 p.m.: found property, Main Street, fast food restaurant employee came to the station to surrender a wallet left at his workplace, the responding officer reports he was unable to immediately contact the owner and the wallet was held for safe keeping;
1:18 p.m.: protective order violation, Pearl Street, a caller reports her son became irate when he was served with a protective order and was damaging the apartment, the responding officer reports the boy had left the apartment and an area search did not reveal him, a criminal complaint was filed, see 3:46 p.m. entry;
2:41 p.m.: larceny, East Silver Street, a caller reports her purse was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that she had left her pocket book in a shopping carriage while loading groceries into her car and when she returned for it found that it had been turned in at the store’s service desk, the large amount of cash which had been in her wallet was missing when she recovered her property;
3:46 p.m.: violation of a protective order, Pearl Street, a caller reports her son violated an abuse protection order earlier and has returned to her house, the responding officer reports the 15-year-old boy was arrested for being delinquent by reason of violation of an abuse prevention order, assault and battery in a domestic relationship and malicious destruction of property valued less than $250;
5:07 p.m.: larceny, Main Street, a resident came to the station to report a larceny earlier in the day, the responding officer reports the man said that a woman outside a Main Street drug store had offered to help him unload his purchases and when he got home he found some of the items were missing, the officer reports a suspect has been identified but his investigation is incomplete;
5:22 p.m.: larceny, East Silver Street, a caller reports a male party stole merchandise including an electric toothbrush, the responding officer reports the man fled the store in a vehicle operated by a female party, see 7:21 p.m. entry;
7:15 p.m.: breaking and entering, Delancy Street, a caller reports property was stolen from her home while she was outside gardening, the responding officer reports the woman said that she was outside from 1-7 p.m. and when she finished working in the yard realized that cash and her keys had been stolen from her home;
7:21 p.m.: larceny, a caller reports a shoplifter stole two electric toothbrushes and fled in a vehicle operated by a female party, the owner of the vehicle was contacted and came to the station, the investigating officer report the woman’s identification of the suspect was incomplete and no charges have yet been filed;
7:40 p.m.: fire, State Street, a caller reports someone is burning plastic in the area, the responding fire captain report the resident burning was advised to extinguish the fire;
7:51 p.m.: disturbance, Notre Dame Street, a caller reports a domestic disturbance, a responding officer reports the altercation was verbal only, an officer responding to the call fell down stairs and was injured, see story in the Friday edition of The Westfield News.
