2:14 a.m.: suspicious activity, Cleveland Avenue, dual police and emergency medical service (EMS) ambulance response, officer reports subject sent on their way;
6:35 a.m.: assist other police department, Hawks Circle, Springfield Police Department request assistance to serve an arrest warrant, officer reports services rendered;
8:12 a.m.: motor vehicle accident, caller reports tractor-trailer southbound on North Elm Street attempted to make a right turn onto Pochassic Street (Drug Store Hill) and damaged a utility pole which is leaning toward the Elm Pizza building, officer located the truck and took information needed to submit insurance claim, driver issued a citation for violating a sigh prohibiting commercial trucks from make a right turn at the intersection, Westfield Gas & Electric Department notified of damage to pole;
8:25 a.m.: larceny, Union Avenue, citizen came to station to report a scam in which he was notified that he had won a sweepstakes, but was required to send money to claim the prize, which he did, then discovered that the sweepstakes was fraudulent;
9:03 a.m.: disturbance, Church Street, detail officer reports a man is obstructing construction workers and equipment, subject is refusing to leave the work site, detail officer requesting assistance of patrol officer, officer dispatched and also requested the subject to desist obstruction the construction workers, subject refused and was arrested, Ronald F. Cappa, 70, of 32 Woronoco Road, Blandford charged with disorderly conduct;
10:10 a.m.: suspicious activity, Mechanic Street, caller reports someone living in a vacant residence, officer reports search of house negative, services rendered;
11:02 a.m.: violation of city ordinance, Mechanic Street, patrol officer reports mattresses abandoned on treebelt, officer reports locating residents who obtained Health Department permit for bulk pick up program;
12:21 p.m.: shoplifting, arrest, Price Rite supermarket, 301 East main St., caller reports a subject is shoplifting, caller states same subject has shoplifted items in the past, officer reports locating the subject, Stephen M. Rogalski, 57, of 119 Berkshire Ave., Southwick, who was taken into custody on a warrant;
6:17 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, arrest, Russell Road at intersection of Beckwith Avenue, patrol officer reports a subject operating a vehicle at 70 miles an hour in a 40-miles-an-hour zone, Robert E. Brodeur, 30, of 1 Kline Road, Southwick charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
