Emergency response and crime report

7:05 a.m.: parking complaint, Hanover Street, a caller reports vehicles parked opposite sides of the road are constricting passage, the responding officer reports one of the vehicle owners moved her vehicle;
9:46 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Broad Street a patrol officer reports he observed a car operating with an unsecured muffler, the vehicle was stopped and the operator was found to have only a learner’s permit, a licensed driver was summoned to the scene;
11:15 a.m.: suspicious activity, Westfield Industrial Park Road, a patrol officer reports he checked three men he observed to be acting suspiciously and one was found to be the subject of a warrant issued in 2014 by the Westfield District Court, Randy Purinton, 22, of 74 Ames Ave., Chicopee, was arrested on the warrant;
12:03 p.m.: larceny, Westfield Middle School North, 350 Southampton Road, a caller reports his wallet was stolen from the gym, the responding officer reports the victim said that he had left his wallet in his gym bag while he was at the gym and he returned to find it gone;
8:47 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street drug store reports that a shoplifter is sitting in a vehicle outside the store, the responding officer reports the store manager showed him security video which showed a man conceal merchandise upon his person, the man was found in the parking lot and admitted stealing, the man surrendered the merchandise, the store manager said that she would be satisfied if the man paid for the items which had been removed from the packaging, and the man did so, a ‘No trespassing’ order was filed.
