Thursday, March 2, 2017

6:53 a.m.: Accident, Southwick Road. Police received a report for a two-vehicle crash involving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and a 2013 Toyota RAV4. It was initially reported that there was entrapment inside a vehicle involved, as well as multiple injuries. However, according to police, those described as entrapped were not trapped in the car, but allegedly were just not getting out of the car. Police had two tow trucks respond, as well as two ambulances from Westfield Fire. One ambulance transported to Baystate Noble Hospital, while another had “obtained a patient refusal.”

8:10 a.m.: Accident, Franklin Street and Shepard Street. Police received a report of a three-vehicle crash involving a 2011 Dodge Caravan, 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2003 Buick Century, which reportedly included an injury. Police requested a tow truck for one vehicle, as well as an ambulance. Westfield Fire ambulance and paramedics arrived and transported one patient to Baystate Noble Hospital.

2:40 p.m.: Accident, Chapel Street. Police received a report of a tractor trailer that reportedly had gotten stuck under the underpass on Chapel Street. The vehicle was able to back out of the underpass but was too damaged to be driven, so a tow truck was requested. No injuries were reported.

10:41 p.m.: Trespassing and arrest, Pochassic Road. Police received a report of a vehicle that was reportedly “stuck on the railroad tracks right at the very end of Pochassic Road,” with passengers inside of the vehicle. Train traffic was stopped according to the report, and police responded to the scene, as well. Police reported that the alleged driver, Wander Gallagher, 53, of Somers, Connecticut, had allegedly driven onto the train tracks. Police said that they arrested Gallagher and charged her with operating under the influence of liquor and walking/riding on railroad tracks. Gallagher allegedly refused to take a field sobriety test. One passenger was also given a courtesy ride to the police department to attempt to find transportation.
