12:55 a.m.: suspicious person, Church Street, a patrol officer reports he observed two male parties walking in the roadway and detected an odor of alcoholic beverages when he approached them, the officer found that both were younger than the legal drinking age and both acknowledged consuming alcoholic beverages, however, a search of their backpacks revealed no contraband;
2:02 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Court Street, a patrol officer reports his attention was drawn to a vehicles stopped at a flashing red light which did not proceed after a reasonable pause, a routine check revealed that the owner’s license had been suspended, the vehicle was stopped and the operator was found to be the owner, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and the operator failed a field sobriety test, Jacob Hartley Stiles, 22, of 192 Abbot Hill Road, Chester, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and for possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, the pickup truck was towed to the police impound yard;
10:42 a.m.: found property, Pontoosic Road, a resident came to the station to surrender two handguns, the responding officer reports the man gave him a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol and a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver he reported finding in his attic, the man said that he believes the revolver may have been issued to his son by Westfield police when his son was an auxiliary officer, the man also surrendered a small amount of small caliber ammunition;
10:52 a.m: assist citizen, East Silver Street, a caller requests assistance after locking keys inside a vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was made;
5:13 p.m.: larceny, Southwick Road, a caller from a Southwick Road gas station reports that a customer left the pump without making payment for the third time this week, the responding officer reports he spoke with the suspect’s father who put him in contact with the suspect who said that he had swiped his debit card and was unaware that it did not register, the officer reports the man went back to the station and spoke with clerk but did not make payment, a criminal complaint was filed;
5:34 p.m.: threat to commit a crime, Mechanic Street, a caller reports her former husband made threats against her, the responding officer reports he was told the man threatened to kill the woman, a criminal complaint was filed;
6:21 p.m.: officer wanted, Prospect Street at Jeremy Drive, a caller reports an explosion occurred outside and he gave chase to three youths seen fleeing the area, the responding officer reports a bottle rocket was thrown into the roadway but the responsible youths were not found;
8:19 p.m.: assist other agency, East Mountain Country Club, a caller from the air national guard security force reports seeing lights, movement, vehicles and a campfire outside the fence near a runway approach area, the dispatcher also reports a call was received from a country club owner who said that he and others routinely gather in the area and the vehicles seen were snowmobiles which were operating with the permission of the country club management;
10:23 p.m.: traffic complaint, Court Street, a Westfield State University police supervisor reports seeing a bus swerving on Western Avenue, the responding officer reports the bus operator said that the bus was full of college students who had been attempting to make the bus rock when he tried to avoid potholes, the students were advised to behave themselves;
11:07 p.m.: liquor law violation, Mechanic Street, a supervisory community policing officer reports he encountered a person on Mechanic Street at Thomas Street who was in possession of alcohol, a city ordinance violation citation as issued;
11:25 p.m.: liquor law violation, Washington Street, two community policing officers report they encountered a person who was in possession of alcohol, a city ordinance violation citation as issued;
11:35 p.m.: liquor law violation, Collin Street, a community policing officer reports he encountered a couple walking in the middle of Notre Dame Street , the officer reports he spoke with the couple and found the male party was in possession of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated, the officer reports the man initially provided false information but he was eventually able to discern his true identity and age, Matthew Miville, 20, of 4 Wayne Ave., Oxford, was arrested for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of liquor;
11:46 p.m.: suspicious vehicle, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he observed an occupied vehicle parked in the lot of a closed business, the officer reps he approached the SUV and noticed an odor of burnt marijuana, the officer reports contraband was seized and a city ordinance violation citation was issued to the operator;

12:46 a.m.: liquor law violation, Mechanic Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a male party drinking beer on Mechanic Street, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
12:58 a.m.: accident, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle strike two parked cars, the officer reports the operator appeared to be intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test, Andrew C. Lacombe, 27, of 48 Oak Knoll Road, Lowell, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard and an officer provided a courtesy transport to Westfield State University for two female parties;
12:58 a.m.: incapacitated person, Mechanic Street at Thomas Street, a patrol officer reports he encountered a female party passed out on the sidewalk, the officer reports the woman was unable to find anybody who would care for her and she was placed in protective custody, after the woman reached the station she become violently ill and was transported to Noble Hospital for treatment;
1:15 a.m.: noise complaint, Washington Street, a caller reports a large group of loud persons on the grounds of the former courthouse which has become university housing, the responding officer found only one person and he was in possession of liquor, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
2:20 a.m.: disturbance, Washington Street, a caller reports a loud college aged party, the responding officer reports music and noise could be heard as he approached, the officer reports the host dispersed his gathering and 20-25 persons left the area;
3:01 a.m.: found property, Westfield Vocational-Technical High School, 33 Smith Avenue, a patrol officer reports that on a routine check of the lower campus revealed an apparently abandoned bicycle which had not been present previously, the bike was transported to the station for safe keeping;
9:08 a.m.: vandalism, West Road, a caller reports his the rear window of his daughter’s vehicle was shattered, the responding officer reports nothing to have been taken from the car and the vandalism reportedly occurred overnight;
9:31 a.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, a person came to; the station to surrender a Jack Russell terrier reportedly found near the Southampton border;
10:00 a.m.: larceny, Notre Dame Street, a caller reports a male party with a pickup truck is on his business property stealing scrap metal, the responding officer reports the caller said that the theft of scrap metal from his yard is a growing problem and he has never given permission to anybody to remove metal from his business, the officer reports the suspect said that a friend had told him it was permissible to take scrap metal from the receptacle, the officer advised the suspect to refrain from taking scrap metal from any business, the scrap metal was retuned to the receptacle and the suspect was served with a ‘No trespassing’ order;
12:14 p.m.: vandalism, Jeremy Drive, a caller reports his mailbox was blown up, the responding officer reports the caller showed him the mailbox and he concluded that a large firecracker had been detonated inside causing the destruction of the mailbox, the officer reports the mailbox had been enclosed in a brick structure which was not destroyed, the caller does not require a formal report but wants the incident documented;
12:21 p.m.: larceny, North Elm Street, a caller from a North Elm Street gas station reports a customer left without making payment for fuel pumped, the responding officer reports he spoke with the suspect vehicle’s owner who said she would contact a relative using the car, the customer returned to the station to make payment for the fuel;
7:22 p.m.: officer wanted, North Elm Street, a caller from a gas station and convenience store reports a customer brought a dog into the store and refuses to leave, the responding officer reports the clerk said that three persons brought a dog into the store and when told the dog could not be there berated him, the officer reports he spoke with a woman with a dog who showed him paperwork certifying the dog to be a medical assistance dog and denied a verbal confrontation with the clerk, she was asked to leave and not return but the clerk refused to serve any of the parties with a ‘No trespassing’ order;
8:18 p.m.: incapacitated person, North Elm Street, a clerk from a liquor store reports an intoxicated customer is refusing to leave, the responding officer reports the man was obviously highly intoxicated and could not find anybody who would care for him, the man was placed in protective custody;
10:10 p.m.: assault, Southwick Road, a caller reports a known person choked her 13-year-old cousin, a second caller reports his daughter called him to say she was choked by the person, the responding officer reports the very upset and crying girl said that her mother’s live-in boyfriend grabbed her neck, shoved her against the wall and squeezed, the officer noted scrapes and abrasions on the girl’s shoulders she said were inflicted when she was pushed against the wall but noted no signs of injury on her neck, the officer reports the man denied touching the girl, Derrick Wheeler, 49, of 504 Southwick Road, was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
10:30 p.m.: liquor law violation, Thomas Street, a community policing officer reports liquor law violations, city ordinance violation citations were filed;
11:33 p.m.: liquor law violation, Church Street, a community policing officer reports a liquor law violation, a city ordinance violation citation was filed.
