1:49 a.m.: disorderly conduct, Thomas Street at Mechanic Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a running man who looked at him before tipping over a refuse container and was punching buildings (but causing no damage) as he passed, the officer detained the man who offered no reasonable explanation for his activities, Weston R. Hewins, 22, of 20 Woronoco Ave., was arrested for disorderly conduct, the officer reports he found several other refuse containers nearby which had been overturned;
2:09 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, School Street, officers observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn and the car was stopped, an officer reports that the car was overloaded with five passengers none of whom were using a seat belt, the passengers were each cited for their infractions and two were provided a courtesy transport to the Westfield State University campus to allow the car to continue safely;
2:32 a.m.: disturbance, Zephyr Drive, a caller reports her husband’s friend is intoxicated and combative, the responding officer reports the man was transported to the police station to attempt to find somebody who would take him home, the man’s keys were stored for safekeeping until a friend arrived at 7:42 a.m. to pick him up;
7:56 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street at Franklin Street, a patrol office reports a traffic stop, the operator’s license was found to be suspended and the car was towed to the police impound yard;
2:17 p.m.: officer wanted, Springfield Road, a loss prevention officer from a Springfield Road department store requests assistance with a group of teenaged youths who are attempting to shoplift, the caller said that he was trying to get the youths out of the store but they were running away from him, the responding officer reports all the youths were removed from the store and none stole anything, one person was served with a ‘No trespassing’ order;
2:30 p.m.: found property, Jefferson Street at Hampden Street, a patrol officer reports a resident advised him that he had discovered street sign and post in a yard, the officer reports the sign was transported to the DPW yard;
4:54 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating without a valid inspection sticker and stopped the car, the operator was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant issued in 2014 by the Southern Berkshire District Court, a pre-tow inventory revealed a quantity of prescription pills for which the operator could not produce a prescription, Syed Ahsan Rehman, 26, of 20 Arnold Street, was arrested on the warrant and for possession of a Class B drug;
8:23 p.m.: assist citizen, Nobel Hospital Emergency Department, Court Street, a caller from the hospital requests a courtesy transport for a patient being discharged, the responding officer reports a courtesy transport was provided to a Free Street address.
