Tuesday, May 14, 2013
9:00 a.m.: animal complaint, Lockhouse Road, the animal control officer reports she took custody of a stray intact male boxer mix dog and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
10:11 a.m.: fire, Elm Street, a caller reports a fire in a wastebasket outside a building, the responding fire captain reports the fire had been extinguished prior to the arrival of firefighters;
6:09 p.m.: breaking and entering, Dubois Street, a community policing officer reports he learned of a burglary, the officer reports entry was made via rear door and CDs, DVDs and a small amount of cash was stolen;
6:29 p.m.: breaking and entering, Meadow Street, a caller reports his home was broken into and a video game system was stolen, the respond officer reports the caller said that entry was gained by breaking a window, electronic items were stolen;
6:59 p.m.: violation of a protective order, East Silver Street, a resident came to the station to complain that her former boyfriend has violated the “No contact” clause of a protective order in effect by sending her a text message, the responding officer reports a criminal complaint was filed;
7:32 p.m.: assist citizen, Free Street, a person came to the fire station to report keys are a locked inside a running vehicle, the responding fire captain reports an unknown party gained entry prior to the arrival of firefighters;
7:55 p.m.: suspicious activity, Pine Street, a caller reports two youths entered her garage, the responding officer reports the incident occurred earlier and a neighbor scared the youths away but did not report the incursion until a resident returned, the officer reports nothing has been found to have been stolen;
8:14 p.m.: fire, Smith Avenue, a caller reports a fire near a house, the responding fire captain reports unauthorized burning was found and the firefighters extinguished the fire;

1:31 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports a routine check of a vehicle seen operating on East Main Street revealed that it had not been inspected, the vehicle and was stopped and the operators license was found to have been suspended and she was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Erica Ann Suleski, 23, of 97 Green Valley Drive, Enfield, Conn., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle without a valid inspection sticker and on the warrant;
9:11 a.m.: school investigation, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a school resource officer reports a student reported that his iPhone and iPod had been stolen from the school library, the SRO reports the boy identified another pupil who had been seen in the area but that boy denied any knowledge of the missing items, the SRO reports that his other leads led him back to the suspect who eventually admitted stealing the iPhone only and selling it to a family member, the phone was damaged when it was recovered, a criminal complaint was filed;
9:29 a.m.: larceny, Southwick Road, a detective reports that he discovered that an iPad had been pawned by a person of interest in a larceny investigation and he found that it too had been stolen, the detective reports that when he went to the pawn shop he found that the device had been redeemed and he was unable to immediately find the suspect, the detective reports his investigation is ongoing;
11:34 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Christopher Drive, a patrol officer reports he observed sprinklers operating for more than an hour, the officer reports nobody was at home and a written warning was left for the resident;
11:56 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Marla Circle, a patrol officer reports he advised a resident about the recently enacted water conservation regulations and she said that she has been trying to adjust her sprinkler accordingly;
2:05 p.m.: fire, Western Avenue, a caller reports resident have a large fire in an open pit near a wooded area, the responding fire captain reports residents were burning twigs and were advised to extinguish the fire;
2:23 p.m.: animal complaint, The Willows Apartments, 19 Lockhouse Road, the director of animal control operations reports that he made entry into an apartment where a cat had been abandoned, the cat was transported to a cat shelter;
4:02 p.m.: found property, Columbia Street, a caller reports finding a hypodermic needle, the responding officer reports he located the needle and brought it to the station for proper disposal;
5:07 p.m.: found property, Spring Street, a resident came to the station with a set of Honda car keys found in a Spring Street driveway, the responding officer reports that although the owner of the keys was tentatively identified no contact could be made and the keys were transported to the station for safe keeping;
5:09 p.m.: trespassing, Elm Street, a caller reports three youths were on the roof of an Elm Street store but have fled toward Free Street, the responding officer reports he encountered the youths and spoke with the owner of the building who said that no damage was done but he would like to issue “No trespassing” orders to the boys
