2:19 a.m.: disturbance, Cedar Lane, a caller from Noble Hospital reports a patient is asking to speak with an officer about a past assault, the responding officer reports the complainant said that her boyfriend has a history of verbal and physical abuse and is threatening to use personal information gleaned from their relationship to her detriment, the complainant was referred to the domestic violence coordinator;
3:40 a.m.: fire, Larchley Avenue, three callers report hearing a gunshot or explosion, a fourth caller reports a power line is down and on fire, police and G&E personnel responded, the responding firefighters report they stood by at the scene until the G&E workers arrived;
4:45 a.m.: breaking and entering, Massey Street, a caller reports he is following two persons who broke into his garage, the responding officer reports that the caller said that he had seen two persons enter his garage and found two gas cans had been stolen, the man said that he followed their wet footprints and called police when he saw them putting the gas cans in their vehicle, the victim followed the vehicle until it was stopped by police and the gas cans were recovered, Evan M. Cioffi, 18, of 308 Springdale Road, and Evan J. Fontaine, 19, of 181 Springdale Road, were each arrested for breaking and entering a building in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony and for larceny from a building;
8:14 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the pickup truck was towed to the police impound yard;
8:58 a.m.: animal complaint, Margerie Street, a caller reports a stray dog is on her porch, the responding animal control officer reports the dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
9:17 a.m.: disturbance, Colonial Pine Acres, 50 Southampton Road, a caller reports a disturbance, the responding officer report he encountered four persons all of who agreed that an altercation had occurred but had differing accounts of who was assaulted by whom, the officer noted no signs of injury and advised all the participants that any of them could elect to seek a criminal complaint at Westfield District Court, the community policing officer for the neighborhood was notified of the incident;
10:36 a.m.: larceny, Westfield Vocational-Technical High School, a school resource officer reports he was advised of a theft, the SRO reports that he was told that three cases of iced tea were found to have been stolen from the school store’s supply cabinet between May 3-23, the school’s security video will be reviewed;
10:48 a.m.: vandalism, Orange Street, a patrol officer reports he was flagged down by a resident who said that his vehicle had been vandalized, the officer reports the man showed him a taillight lens on a parked vehicle which had been smashed;
12:26 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports that while checking the parking lot of a Springfield Road department store he observed a vehicle parked in a handicap spot, the officer reports the operator said that her grandmother has a placard and was inside shopping, the officer reports a routine check revealed that the woman had been served a “No trespassing” order for the store store after she had been caught shoplifting, Tasha K. Vachon, 20, of 184 Carrington Road, Montgomery was arrested for trespass, the operator’s grandfather came to the store to take his wife home;
12:40 p.m.: larceny, Westfield Athenaeum, 6 Elm St., a representative of the athenaeum came to the station to report that a patron checked out a tablet computer and did not return it, the responding officer reports the complainant said that the patron checked out the computer Jan. 1 and it was due back on Jan 23, the complaint said that when staff contacted the patron he said that he left the device at a friend’s residence, the athenaeum policy is to consider the device stolen, a report was filed;
2:11 p.m.: larceny, Broad Street, a caller from a Broad Street nursing facility called to report cash was stolen from a resident, the responding officer reports the resident said that $30 was stolen from her purse in her room;
6:39 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports that while checking the parking lot of a Springfield Road department store he observed a vehicle with registration revoked for lack of insurance, the officer reports the plates were seized and notes were left for the operator.
