2:11 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating at about 40-45 mph in a 30 mph zone and when he followed it saw the operator discard a can later found to be a beer can, the vehicle was stopped and the officer noted the classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication, the operator failed a field sobriety test, Edmund J. Gordon, 23, of 72 Harriet Ave., Shrewsbury, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and for speeding;
2:30 a.m.: suspicious person, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports he observed customers in a convenience store where no clerk was seen, the officer investigated and observed that the customers appeared to be very nervous to see him and left without making a purchase when the clerk emerged from a back room, the officer reports that a routine check revealed one of the parties to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Heather Riel, 26, of 53 Jefferson St., was arrested on the warrant;
5:48 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the operator’s license was found to be expired and the vehicle’s registration was found to have been revoked for lack of insurance, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
9:53 a.m.: officer wanted, Llewellyn Drive, a caller reports a bag of garbage was dumped on her lawn the night before and although she initially was going to pick it up has reconsidered in light to the suspicious and dangerous packages found recently, the responding officer reports the bag was found to contain cans which he picked up and put in the caller’s bin;
10:27 a.m.: disturbance, Notre Dame Apartments, 25 Collins St., a caller reports her brother assaulted her when he came to pick up some belongings, the responding officer reports the caller said that her brother broke in the door of her residence and pushed her against the stairs before he left, the officer reports criminal complaints were filed for breaking and entering, assault and battery and malicious damage of property;
10:36 a.m.: school investigation, Westfield Vocational-Technical High School, 33 Smith Avenue, a school resource officer and a detective report they investigated and addressed an issue which developed between two pupils;
11:49 a.m.: vandalism, Elm Street, a caller reports two parked vehicles were damaged, the responding officer reports windows of two parked vehicles were shattered by apparent BB impacts;
11:58 a.m.: larceny, Lockhouse Road, a resident came to the station to report that medications were stolen from her residence while she was moving, the responding officer reports the woman said that while she was moving medication was stolen and suggested a suspect, the officer reports the case remains under investigation;
7:14 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Meadow Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
10:26 p.m.: alarm, Elm Street, a representative of an alarm company reports a motion alarm at an East Main Street drug store and reports a customer may have been locked inside a store, the responding officer reportps an employee was inadvertently locked in the store and the manager returned to release the employee.
