12:27 a.m.: disturbance, Taylor Avenue, multiple callers reports two men are fighting, see story in the Tuesday edition of The Westfield News;
1:10 a.m.: assist other police department, Westfield State University, 577 Western Ave., WSU police request the use of a cell for a prisoner, a cell monitor was provided;
2:19 a.m.: disturbance, Main Street, a caller from a pizzeria reports two people are fighting outside, the responding officer reports the fight was over when he arrived but he was able to find and speak with both participants, each said that the other made disparaging remarks which led to a brief physical encounter, neither party wished to pursue criminal charges;
2:31 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Broad Street at Main Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating in the wrong direction on School Street turn on to Main Street, a second officer stopped the car and reports the operator displayed the classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication, the man acknowledged that he had consumed two beers and declined to attempt a field sobriety test, Gregory R. Schouler, 25, of 80 Schooner Lane, Hyannis, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, for operating the wrong way on a one-way street and for a marked lanes violation;
5:11 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street at Franklin Street, patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red traffic signal, the vehicle was stopped and the operator said that his license had been suspended, Christopher C. Wert, 27, of 593 Southwick Road, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (a subsequent offense) and for a red light violation;
8:45 a.m.: suspicious persons, Arms Brook Park, Lockhouse Road a caller reports people appear to be living in a shed at the park, the responding officer reports that initially nobody was found but a second caller directed officers to a tent where two people who said they were not welcome at the Samaritan Inn were apparently living, the officer reports the couple was very cooperative and agreed to leave the area;
9:42 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a Traffic Bureau officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and nonrenewable, the car was towed to the police impound yard and the officer reports he provided there people a courtesy transport to a Western Avenue address;
11:28 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a patrol officer reports he encountered a tractor-trailer unit operated by a person with an suspended out-of-state license, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
4:14 p.m.: found property, Otis Street, a person came to the station to surrender a wallet reportedly found on Otis Street, the responding officer reports the owner of the wallet could not be immediately contacted and it was stored for safekeeping;
8:43 p.m.: incapacitated person, Park St., a caller reports finding a male party in a neighbor’s yard who did not reply when spoken to but moved a little, the responding office reports the calling party was provided a courtesy transport to his Meadow Street home;
11:55 p.m.: accident, Southampton Road at North Road, caller reports a vehicle has struck a tree and rolled over, the responding officer reports a vehicle left the roadway and traveled into the woods before hitting a tree and rolling over, the operator initially declined medical assistance but was subsequently transported to Noble Hospital.
