1:06 a.m.: suspicious vehicle, Montgomery Road, a caller reports a vehicle has been parked in front of his home for more than an hour with the lights on and the engine running, the responding officer reports he found a person apparently passed out, the officer noted an odor of alcohol about the man who appeared to be disoriented and confused, the man failed a field sobriety test, a pre-tow inventory of his vehicle revealed a quantity of pills, John J. Bucko, 36, of 143 New State Road, Montgomery, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor and for possession of a Class E drug;
2:14 a.m.: accident, Falley Drive, a caller reports a vehicle struck a tree, the responding officer reports he arrived to be flagged down by the operator who displayed the classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication, the officer reports he found that the man’s vehicle had continued for 55 feet after it came to the end of the cul-de-sac before striking a tree, the man declined to take a field sobriety test and, when told he was arrested, asked for medical treatment, the man was transported to Noble Hospital, after his release from hospital, Bruno D. Antico, 22, of 236 Shaker Road, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor;
4:37 a.m.: disturbance, Holyoke Road, a caller reports her friend was assaulted by his former boyfriend, the responding officer reports the victim said that about 20 minutes earlier his boyfriend punched him repeatedly and choked him during an argument, the man had left the area but his vehicle was found on Dudley Avenue and he was found in a nearby residence, the suspect denied any assault, Peter L. Rigali, 30, of 310 Pleasant St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
7:20 a.m.: trespassing, Cross Street, a caller reports five persons are inside the fence near the school on the swing set, the responding officer reports four parties were advised that they were trespassing and warned that they would be arrested if they returned;
11:32 a.m.: suspicious activity, Mechanic Street, a caller reports a rear porch was filled with leaves, the responding officer reports the resident said that some time since 3 a.m. a rear screened porch was filled with a pickup truck load of leaves;
5:09 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Union Street at Sandy Hill Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle was towed;
6:27 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating on Main Street without headlights swerve across the center line, the vehicle was stopped on East Main Street and the operator said that he had no license with him, the officer noted classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication but a field sobriety test was inconclusive, a routine check revealed that the man was not licensed in the Commonwealth and his out-of-state license was expired, Christopher Berrios, 26, of 56 Elm St., Enfield, Conn., was arrested for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a motor vehicle lights violation and a marked lanes violation;
8:39 p.m.: vandalism, Elm Street, a caller reports a known person smashed a window of his vehicle, the responding officer reports the caller said that a person with whom he has ongoing issues walked past his vehicle while his girlfriend was inside and punched a side window causing it to break, a criminal complaint was filed;
11:20 p.m.: liquor law violation, an officer working a liquor control detail reports he observed two college aged male parties walking on Washington Street and spoke with a young man wearing a backpack, when asked what was in his backpack the youth told the officer it contained “stuff” and when the officer pressed for more detail the person acknowledged that he had alcohol in his backpack, the youth was found to be 18-years-old, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;

12:01 a.m.: noise complaint, Lockhouse Road, a caller reports loud music from a party with a bonfire is disturbing her peace, the responding officer reports the fire was extinguished, the gathering dispersed and the tenant was advised of the consequences of noise complaints;
12:02 a.m.: noise complaint, Meadow Street, a caller reports a large college aged party, the responding officer reports about 150 persons were seen leaving the party, the officer observed one young woman leaving with a partially full can of beer and determined she was younger than the legal drinking age, Alana T. Misk, 20, of 313 Grove St., Hanover, was arrested for being a person younger than the legal drinking age in possession of alcohol, criminal complaints for disturbing the peace and providing alcohol to a person younger than the legal drinking age were filed against the tenant;
12:22 a.m.: noise complaint, Van Deusen Apartments, 42 Arnold Street, a caller reports a neighbor’s music and other noise are disturbing his peace, the responding officer reports he was buzzed into the building by the caller and followed the noise to a basement apartment where he heard noise while outside, he reports that when he rang the doorbell he heard someone telling others to get into the bathroom, when the officer was eventually admitted to the apartment he smelled an odor of burnt marijuana and found persons hiding in the bathroom, one person identified a guest who he said had been smoking marijuana and may have hidden it while he was in the bathroom, the officer reports a bag containing a small amount of marijuana was found under a towel, the owner was identified who said that everybody had been smoking, a city ordinance violation as issued;
1:03 a.m.: suspicious persons, Chapman Playground, St. Paul Street, a patrol officer reports he discovered persons in the playground, the officer reports the trespassers were advised of the park’s hours and left the area;
1:23 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Notre Dame Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating without taillights and stopped the car on Notre Dame Street, the officer reports that a routine check revealed that the operator’s license had been suspended, Benjamin D. Reynolds, 25, of 37 Beauview Terrace, West Springfield, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and for a motor vehicle lights violation;
1:39 a.m.: assault, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he was approached by persons who reported an assault in an Elm Street bar, the officer reports he spoke with a male party who said that he was intentionally struck with an elbow by a person on the dance floor, the officer reports staff said that the man is known to them although his name is not, the man had left but staff said they would attempt to ascertain his identity when he returns;
2:07 a.m.: accident, Day Avenue, a caller reports vehicle struck a house, the responding officer reports he found a couple outside a Jeep which had rolled over and come to rest atop a fence, the female party said that they had left a bar and had argued all the way home about her boyfriend’s intoxication level and when he pulled into their driveway he struck her car which was parked there, the woman said that she exited the vehicle before he backed up, struck a fence and the vehicle rolled over, the male party agreed with the woman’s account of the events and admitted that he had consumed 5-6 beers, the man failed a field sobriety test, Glenn Farrelly, 32, of 11 Day Ave., was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor and for negligent operation of a motor vehicle;
2:15 p.m.; noise complaint, Mechanic Street, a caller reports a loud party is disturbing her peace, the responding officer reports that when the officer knocked on the door the noise heard abruptly ended but nobody responded, the officer reports that persistent knocking eventually attracted the attention a tenant who was advised of the complaint, about 30 persons were dispersed;
8:55 a.m.: larceny, Southwick Road, a gas station attendant reports a person left without paying for fuel pumped, the responding officer reports the clerk said that the customer entered the store and made a purchase at another business co-located in the store but did not pay for fuel valued at about $30, the officer reports he was unable to immediately contact the registered owner of the vehicle involved;
9:39 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Franklin Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed;
10:05 a.m.: animal complaint, West Silver Street, a caller reports locating a stray dog, the responding animal control officer reports he took custody of the brown female collie mix dog and transported it to the shelter;
10:27 a.m.: breaking and entering, Northridge Road, a caller reports his shed was broken into and his snow blower, weed whacker, trimmer and gas can were stolen, the responding officer reports the victim said that he believes the shed was locked and he last saw the items about three weeks earlier;
12:01 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Deer Path Lane, a traffic bureau officer reports he observed a vehicle with expired registration parked on Deer Path Lane, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard, the owner came to the station with documentation that he had renewed his registration on-line and the vehicle was released;
1:48 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a caller reports that the operator of a vehicle seen operating erratically went into a Southampton Road restaurant, the responding officer reports the vehicle in question had been reported to be operated erratically earlier and he found that the vehicle’s registration had been revoked for lack of insurance, the plates were seized and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard, the operator was found to be under the influence of an unknown substance and acknowledged taking pain medication, her license was found to be suspended;
3:08 p.m.: accident, Union Street, a patrol officer reports he was stopped in traffic when his cruiser was struck in the rear, the officer was transported to Noble Hospital where he was treated and released, both vehicles were towed;
3:09 p.m.: larceny, Springdale Road, a caller reports a past larceny, the responding officer reports the caller said that she found receipts indicating that her 17-year-old son had sold video games belonging to his brother, the woman showed the officer text messages from her son which included an admission, the games were recovered and a criminal complaint was filed;
5:06 p.m.: disturbance, Mechanic Street, a caller reports an argument between his grandson and his girlfriend is getting out-of-hand, the responding officer reports the caller directed him to a bathroom where the caller’s grandson and his girlfriend were arguing, the officer reports the male party denied hitting the woman but acknowledged grabbing her arm, the officer noted red marks on the woman’s arm which was bleeding and also noted teeth marks on her face, the woman said that the man had not struck her but grabbed her arm and said that the teeth marks were from a previous incident, Avery Girard, 17, of 37 Mechanic St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
6:02 p.m.: suspicious person, Jefferson Street, a caller reports seeing a male party with a flashlight entering an abandoned machine shop, the responding officer reports he found male party inside who said that there was a another person in the building and the officer also located that party, both were ejected and told not to return, one of the persons slammed the door upon leaving which caused a piece of broken glass to fall and strike the head of one of the assisting officers who was transported to Noble Hospital where she was treated and released, criminal complaints for breaking and entering and for trespass were filed;
6:55 p.m.: larceny, Union Street, a resident came to the station to report that cash was stolen from his apartment, the responding officer reports the man said that while he was away the lock on his apartment door was forcibly opened and almost $700 in cash was stolen;
7:39 p.m.: officer wanted, Allen Avenue, a caller reports youths threw a bomb into her yard, see story in the Wednesday edition of The Westfield News.
