12:53 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Russell Road, patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
9:50 a.m.: traffic complaint, East Mountain Road at Holyoke Road, an officer working an off duty detail reports a trucker stuck under a railroad overpass needs assistance, the responding officer reports the trucker released enough air from his tires so that he was able to back away from the viaduct;
10:26 a.m.: disturbance, Campanelli Drive, a caller from a Campanelli Drive warehouse reports a terminated employee is creating a disturbance, the responding officer reports he arrived to encounter three persons outside the warehouse and one was agitated and upset and displayed symptoms to suggest that he was under the influence of an unknown substance, the officer reports a human resources employee said that the suspect had been terminated because he came t o work apparently under the influence of drugs, the man was served a ‘No trespassing’ order for the property and the caller was advised that a criminal complaint could be sought at the Westfield District Court;
11:02 a.m.: larceny, East Silver Street, a detective reports that a store employee said that a person who spent time in the store and left without making a purchase was confronted outside and surrendered makeup valued at about $60, Krista Marie Mikos, 24, of 205 East St., Ludlow, was arrested for shoplifting by concealing merchandise, during the booking process the woman was found to be in possession of a hypodermic syringe which was properly disposed of, she was also in possession of six pills for which she claimed to have a prescription but were not in a prescription pill bottle,see 12:01 p.m. Saturday entry;
4:11 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
6:18 p.m.: officer wanted, East Main Street, two callers report a baby unattended in a vehicle parked in an East Main Street parking lot is upset and crying, the responding officer reports the child’s father was returning to the car when the officer approached and said that the boy had been acting up in a store so was taken to the car to wait while his father finished his business in the store, the officer reports that the three-year-old boy was clean, apparently healthy and dressed appropriately, the Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident;
10:36 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, West Silver Street, detectives report that they observed a vehicle strike a curb when it arrived at a liquor store and make an unsafe return to the roadway when it left, the detectives followed the car and observed the operator fail to stop for a red light, the detectives requested a marked unit to make a traffic stop on Pleasant Street, a uniformed officer observed the car on West Silver Street and stopped it after it turned on to Day Avenue but the operator fled on foot back to West Silver Street and was apprehended on Noble Avenue after he crashed through a vinyl fence, the man was obviously highly intoxicated and his license was found to have been suspended, the owner of the vehicle was contacted and said that the man had not been authorized to use it, Sergio M. Cozzaglio, 19, of 6 St. Paul St., was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, resisting arrest, vandalizing property and using a motor vehicle without authority.
