9:16 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Little River Road, a patrol officer reports his attention was drawn to a vehicle operating with an overly loud exhaust system, the vehicle was stopped on Little River Road and the officer reports he immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana, when the officer queried the operator he surrendered a bag containing the butts of marijuana cigarettes and two bags containing marijuana, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
10:57 a.m.: breaking and entering, Southampton Road, a caller reports his girlfriend has stolen items from his vehicle, the responding officer reports that the man said that a chain saw was stolen from his locked truck and he suspects that the girlfriend he recently broke up with who has a key to the vehicle took the chain saw because he owes her money, the officer reports the woman denied taking the chain saw;
12:01 p.m.: accident, Main Street, an officer who responded to a minor rear end accident on Main Street reports the offending operator’s license had been suspended and he had pointed the suspension out to her the day before when he dealt with her, the officer reports the woman was found to be in possession of heroin and a needle, Krista Marie Mikos, 24, of 205 East St., Ludlow, was arrested for possession of a Class A drug, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a state highway traffic violation;
12:21 p.m.: larceny, Evergreen Manor, 919 Southampton Road, a resident reports via the online reporting option that her purse was stolen, the woman wrote that after she was arrested Oct. 17 a known party stole her possession including her clothing, purse and personal documents including an EBT card, the complainant wrote that the woman contacted her boyfriend and attempted ransom the property for $500 but the man declined to accept her offer, the victim said that the suspect retained the property and, after the EBT card was reloaded, used it to steal almost $750 from her EBT account, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
2:58 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Powder Mill Village, a patrol officer reports he followed an apparently unregistered motor vehicle when it pulled into Powder Mill Village, the officer reports he immediately detected an odor of marijuana in the vehicle but the operator denied he was in possession of contraband, the officer reports the vehicle’s owner approached and granted permission to examine the car whereupon the operator indicated where he had secreted his marijuana, a criminal complaint was filed and a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
3:59 p.m.: assist other police department, North Road, a Southwick supervisory officer called to report that a resident of Southwick who had earlier reported a larceny of antiques reports that he discovered an antique clock (which he had not reported to have been stolen when it was taken with other antiques) has been found offered for sale at a North Road antiques dealer, the responding officer reports the store owner said that he purchased the clock from two youths who said thy were cleaning out their grandfather’s attic, the man said that he had spent $600 to repair the clock that was offered for sale and said that the man who claimed it was stolen property offered him $400 for the clock to avoid the complications which would arise if police seized the clock, the officer reports he seized the clock;
4:30 p.m.: animal complaint, Pequot Point Road, a caller complains that his neighbor’s dogs continually run loose and approach him when he is out walking making him concerned for the safety of his daughter, the officer reports the owner of the dogs was advised that the animal control officer will be advised if he does not restrain his dogs;
6:35 p.m.: rescue, West Silver Street, a firefighter reports he was advised that persons are trapped inside an elevator, the responding Fire Captain reports the occupants were extricated without incident;
7:11 p.m.: fire, Pochassic Road, a caller reports a bonfire on the northern bank of the river, the responding officer reports he spoke with three persons around a small campfire and advised them that they may not have a fire on city property, the persons agreed to quench the fire and attend it until it was completely extinguished;
7:24 p.m.: fire, Shepard Street, a caller reports children are playing around a small backyard bonfire, the responding firefighters report the homeowner was advised of the complaint and extinguished the fire;
8:25 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and it was towed;
10:44 p.m.: larceny, King Street, a resident reports via the online reporting option that a woman has been harassing himself and his fiancée, the complainant said that he had previously spoken with police but the woman continues to call, the man wrote that the suspect had admitted on the phone and in text messages that she used a key to his house which she still has to enter and steal his fiancée’s medications.
