12:58 a.m.: fire, Buck Pond Road, a caller reports a brush fire is near her shed, the responding firefighters reports that upon arrival they found the fire had reached the shed and they immediately began efforts to extinguish it and summoned another pumper truck, the fire was extinguished and the shed was overhauled thoroughly to ensure no fire had established itself there;
10:27 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Grant Street, a patrol officer reports he encountered a parked vehicle with expired registration, the vehicle was towed;
11:25 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Franklin Street at Franklin Avenue, a patrol officer reports he encountered a camper with expired registration, the trailer was towed to the police impound yard;
12:24 p.m.: vandalism, Meadow Street, a resident came to the station to complain that his car was vandalized overnight, the responding officer reports the caller said that between 3 p.m. and 11 a.m. a side mirror was damaged, the driver’s door was scratched and a passenger door was dented;
12:29 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Meadow Street at Main Street, a patrol officer reports a routine check revealed that the registration of a vehicle seen operating had been revoked for lack of insurance, the vehicle was stopped and a pre-tow inventory reveled a hypodermic needle cap with a white residue, when queried the operator surrendered a bag of needles and a packet which he said contained cocaine, the man’s 10-year-old son was in the vehicle with him, Keith E. Fila, 31, of 50 Higgins Road, Chester, was arrested for possession of a Class B drug, operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and reckless endangerment of a child;
1:38 p.m.: officer wanted, Brookline Avenue, a resident came to the station to complain that her child’s father returned their son to her custody hours early and left the two-year-old boy alone outside her residence, the responding officer reports the man sent her a text message to advise her that he had dropped off the child and she found him outside her door, the Department of Children and Families was notified;
2:04 p.m.: vandalism, Cross Street, a caller reports her vehicle was egged overnight, the woman said that she works at Westfield High, that she suspect a student there may be involved and that she will consult the school resource officer;
8:55 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street at Chapel Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and it was towed to the police impound yard;
9:40 p.m.: accident, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports that he observed two vehicles stopped on the side of Union Avenue and as he approached one left at a high rate of speed, the pickup truck was stopped on North Elm Street and the second vehicle arrived moments later, the officer reports that the operator of the second vehicle reported that the pickup tuck had struck his vehicle and fled, the officer found the operator of the truck appeared to be intoxicated, the man failed a field sobriety test and a pre-tow inventory revealed controlled medication and an empty nip bottle of liquor, the man told the officer he had consumed both alcohol and pain relieving medication, Nathan D. MacBrian, 25, of 136 Former Road, Southampton, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, speeding and a tire tread depth violation.
