12:54 a.m.: suspicious activity, Court Street at Washington Street, a caller reports that college-aged youths are pushing each other around in a shopping cart, the responding officer reports a shopping cart was found near the intersection of Central and Washington streets, the cart was transported to the station for safekeeping;
12:58 a.m.: disorderly conduct, Washington Street, a caller from the Westfield State University housing security office reports a male party who pulled a fire alarm is intoxicated and agitated, the responding officer reports the young man was provided a courtesy transport to the WSU campus;
1:37 a.m.: disturbance, Elm Street, an officer monitoring the bars at closing time reports he observed a female party who left a bar and spoke with persons at a nearby gas station before returning to run full speed into another woman and pushed her down, the victim said that she had been talking with the suspect’s on-again, off-again boyfriend in the bar, Nichole Lynne Trohan, 25, of 11 Noble Ave., was arrested for assault and battery and disorderly conduct;
2:07 a.m.: disturbance, Curtis Street, a caller reports a college-aged party is disturbing her peace, the responding officer reports that music could be heard from the street from both units of the building and the tenants agreed to turn off the music and wind down the party;
2:23 a.m.: false crime report, Arnold Street, a Southwick resident came to the station to falsely report that his car was stolen, see story in the Monday edition of The Westfield News;
9:19 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and non-renewable, the vehicle was towed to a private location;
10:46 a.m.: animal complaint, Arnold Street, a caller reports he took custody of a stray dog, the responding director of animal control operations reports she took custody of a tan and white pit bull dog, at 11:33 a.m. a caller reported her pit bull dog was stolen in the Arnold Street area and was advised that a dog which fit her description had been transported the municipal animal shelter;
12:36 p.m.: assist resident, Washington House, 16 Washington Street, a resident came to the station seeking assistance gathering property for her grandfather in light of an active protective order, the responding officer reports that the woman collected fishing poles, pots and pans without incident;
2:44 p.m.: found property, East Main Street, a resident came to the station to surrender a woman’s wallet found at the East Main Street shops, contact information for the owner was not found and the wallet was stored for safekeeping;
4:55 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the registration plates on the pickup truck were found to have been issued to a different truck, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
6:47 p.m.: suspicious persons, Main Street, a caller from a Main Street business reports that she can hear persons rummaging through the store’s refuse receptacle, the responding officer reports he found two youths skateboarding on the property despite several signs prohibiting such activity, the officer determined that both young men could read but had chosen to disregard the signs, the officer advised them that a similar complaint will result in city ordinance violation citations and seizure of the skateboards as evidence;
9:37 p.m.: disturbance, Powdermill Village, 126 Union St., a patrol officer reports he drove into the housing complex and observed two men who were found to be wrestling over control of a large bottle of brandy, the officer reports that the two men fled while he was securing his cruiser and were tracked to a nearby apartment, the resident was advised of the incident and that she is responsible for the behavior of her guests, the woman said that she was going to take the two men back to Springfield immediately;
9:42 p.m.: breaking and entering, Union Street, a caller reports that he recently returned home and a neighbor advised him that four male parties had been drinking alcohol near a car parked in his driveway and one had entered the car, the man said his neighbor told him all four men fled when he yelled at the man in the car, the owner of the car said that the contents of the unlocked vehicle had been disturbed but nothing appears to be missing;
11:37 p.m.: disturbance, Russell Road, a caller reports about 30 persons at a college-aged party are making noise and walking in the roadway, the responding officer reports he found about 20 vehicles parked in the driveway and street with about 50 persons around them, the officer found that a party which involved both units of the duplex was underway with about 20 persons on the porch and more inside, the officer reports that the residents of one apartment were cooperative while a tenant of the other declined to identify his roommates and said that he would take the blame himself, the officer noted one person exit with a can of beer who was found to be younger than the legal drinking age, the tenant was advised that criminal complaints for disturbing the peace and furnishing alcoholic beverages to a person younger than the legal drinking age would be filed;
11:41 p.m.: disturbance, Atwater Street, a caller reports a loud college-aged party, the responding officer reports a tenant was identified and the gathering was dispersed, a city ordinance violation citation was issued.
