12:25 a.m.; motor vehicle violation, Sackett Street, a patrol officer reports a vehicle was found with expired registration and it was towed to the police impound yard;
1:19 a.m.: weather complaint, Little River Road, a supervisory officer reports he assisted a G&E crew as they removed energized power lines from the roadway;
9:52 a.m.: parking complaint, Harvard Street, a caller reports an illegally parked vehicle, the responding officer reports a citation was issued;
10:17 a.m.; larceny, Parker Avenue, a detective reports he discovered that a laptop computer that he believed had been stolen was found to have been sold to a local merchant by a woman who has since been arrested, the detective reports he consulted a resident who had allowed the woman to stay at her home and she identified the computer as property of her son which had not been reported stolen, the woman said she had not wanted to believe her friend had stolen the computer from her son;
10:52 a.m.: Southampton Road, a caller reports the playground at a child development center has been vandalized, the responding officer reports he was told that ropes and other playground equipment had been smeared with grease and will have to be replaced;
2:59 p.m.: arrest, Union Avenue, a caller reports that two persons who were subjects of outstanding warrants are at their home, the responding officers reports the two subjects were found at their home, Eric J. Perez, 27, of 11 Union Ave., and Hector L. Casanova, 23, of 11A Union Ave., were each arrested on the warrants without incident;
6:06 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, a traffic bureau officer reports a vehicle entered the roadway from a parking lot unsafely and was stopped, the officer reports the owner has only a learner’s permit and there was no licensed operator in the vehicle, the vehicle owner was advised of the infraction, a criminal complaint was filed and the vehicle was towed;
8:26 p.m.: vandalism, Western Avenue, a caller reports the rear window of her vehicle was cracked by a BB or similar impact, the responding officer reports two small holes were observed in the window but no projectiles were found;
8:40 p.m.: vandalism, Skipper Lane, a caller reports a neighbor’s bench was thrown aside by a group of youths roaming the neighborhood destroying property, the responding officer reports a second caller said that his house on Glen Ridge was egged by a group of youths, a search of the area did not reveal any suspects;
8:43 p.m.: vandalism, Farnham Lane, a caller reports someone threw a rock against a car window, the responding officer reports a window of a car parked in the driveway was smashed and a rock was found nearby, the officer found that a neighbor said that a noise was heard about 8:30 p.m. and a vehicle was seen leaving the area;
9:01 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Lockhouse Road at Servistar Industrial Way, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating at a high rate of speed in a thickly settled area and stopped the vehicle on Lockhouse Road, the officer reports that when he exited his cruiser the operator drove off and he gave chase, the offending vehicle failed to negotiate a turn on to Servistar Industrial Way and struck another vehicle, the officer reports that while he was checking the other operator the offending motorist fled into woods, the officer noted several partially full containers of alcohol in the pickup truck and determined the vehicle to be owned by a Chester resident who said that her son had the pickup truck, the officer reports he identified the operator by his Registry of Motor Vehicles photo, criminal complaints for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to stop for police, resisting arrest, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and operating to endanger were filed;
9:34 p.m.: incapacitated person, School Street, a caller reports an intoxicated person is walking on School Street, the responding officer reports the man came to the station where he was found to be highly intoxicated, the man was placed in protective custody until his mother came to the station to take custody of him.
